A good result, well done lads.Had a couple of chances early on in the game put they just didn't come to a goal unfortunately.Kelly did very well with his goal, great goal.Good to see a lot more battle and effort in the team again.Daniel & Moore didn't seem to do a great deal(are they struggling with an injury?)

Tom Pope didn't do a lot for Bury.Good to see that he was given a round of applause when he was substituted.

It's a long way to come to watch Vale v Bury for no particular reason.

Is he thinking of buying the Club with his settlement money from Smurf?

Is he looking for a consortium? You never know - Smurf did say he valued Adams views on things and could have asked him for some advice.

Cant see him coming back to Vale in any position. Wonder if he could be a CEO -

There will be loads of conspiracy thoughts now.

A nice win against a weak side but my god I was extremely bored in that second half.

My take on the game:

Almost a shocking start with a huge chance for Clarke and then instantly a chance for AJ to reply, Moore unlucky as well not to score afterwards. I thought for the first 20/25 minutes we completely dominated them and should have been at least 2 up. However after that I thought we lacked any kind of cutting edge. Second half I was fuming to see that we had no striker on the pitch, Kelly was excellent and my MOTM. but should have started anyway. Take away the superb goal from Kelly we created nothing and had no other shots in that second half, why again it was left so late to bring Hooper on I have no idea. Page says that was the best performance under him, well with what 2 shots or so on target I will firmly disagree, Doncaster and Wigan were far greater. We defended well (until there clear miss towards the end), I still thought we were a striker short and Page should have brought a natural striker on instead of moving Daniel there. Anyway another 3 points at home, I just wish we would carry our home form into away matches.

Alnwick 7. Good save towards the end and commanded his area very well.

Purkiss 7. Defended and got forward well.

Dicko 7. As above, but I dont appreciate him whinging at the fans again.

McGivern 8. Thought he was great today and made some great interceptions.

Duffy 8. As above, kept Pope very quiet.

Moore 6. Put effort in but struggled in attacking terms.

Oconnor 7. Controlled it well but set pieces were poor today.

Brown 6. Looked rusty and I was shocked to see him in the side from know where.

Foley 7. Got forward well and for me is an asset in the middle, reminds me of lofty.

Daniel 5. Couple of decent balls in the first half but completely lost when moved up front.

AJ 6. One of his weaker games but was completely isolated.

Subs:

Kelly 8. Brilliant goal, still has some very weak areas to his game but as I have said on many occasions and been criticised he really has some potential.

Hooper NA

Birchall NA

Overall another welcome 3 points at home, first half I thought we were very good, second half poor and created little but luckily for Page Kelly scored a belter.

P.s To all those who couldnt understand us letting Pope go and think he would be an asset to us, I hope you were watching today, he looks way past his best and looked one of the weakest players on the pitch.

Also one thing I havnt mentioned was the effort put in again from the boys today, since Exeter they have been excellent in that regard.

What a goal take a bow lad .

Moore hit the post and enjoyed our defensive display .

Alnwick only had one save make .

A solid but unspectacular performance but three much needed points .

O Connor brought a save out there keeper .

Foley work rate is excellent but for me Duffy and Brown take the men of the match awards both showed excellent game management.
