I was there also and saw a team hanging on for dear life. The subs didn't work because Uche wasn't interested and we never got anything up for Daniel to chase. The subs took Dodds, o Connor and Moore out of the game completely. We had very few shots at goal and A J took his goal very well. Second was a result of excellent passing football on the ground and was very well finished by Foley. We lost all that by the substitutions. Still need a quality striker and Uche certainly isn't the answer. We were very lucky to get the win as we sat back and invited them to attack, clearances were poor and resulted in the ball coming straight back. If we play like that against Maidenhead we will go out.

We always sit back once we have a lead--this feature of our play drives me up the wall! No wonder our goals for record is one of the poorer in the division!

well, someone on here called jockyboy said the commentators were watching the game, and i was listening to the game, and they said it was calamity defending from adam yates and ryan mcgivern, so lee blakeman is a liar is what your saying, oh and your such a witty person with your 'seeing ya missus' type of banter. hilarious pal, absoulutely hilarious.:boring::notworthy: i think you should go on twitter or facebook and tell blakeman he aint doing his job properly then he's clearly a liar

I don't see how you can believe what Lee Blakeman over Jacko. He has made loads of mistakes with players names, and teams etc in the past.I would trust what Jacko say's A LOT MORE than I would trust what the clueless Blakeman say's.

To be fair the subs made sense today it was just that Uche for whatever reason didnt hold the ball up to give us the opportunity to move up the pitch and Daniel was brought on to try and use his pace to chase the often wild panicky clearances. We really need to learn how to close games out, only Grant tried to keep the ball. We dont seem to break up play. To blame Yates for the goal is nuts but then there is no mention of of his goal line clearance from a corner on the post which some have been crying out for. It was overall a very dour game

That's the problem with Uche - when he's hot he's great, when he's not he's awful. Didn't go, but it seemed Yates had a decent game. However watching their goal it is pretty much Yates's error, but these things happen with lower league players. He did well for our second.

Highlights:

Great example of how to attack a cross from AJ. Brilliant header.

Moore/Yates/Foley - super 2nd goal.

Barnsley goal - if you are going to concede a goal like that then do it when you are 2 up. These things happen like when someone blocks an effort and it spins over the keeper.

Foley going off seems to be a matter of discussion. I think for the Barnsley goal a player pushed the ball easily past him before crossing. Page may well have seen this as a time to take him off for fresh legs.

My question earlier in the thread has been answered a few times (thanks - it was a little tongue in cheek but sentiments were correct). I'm actually happy that a few supporters are vocal on here wanting Page to go. At least you are unmoved and not one of these fickle supporters who change their mind every second match. I don't want Page out btw. - I say let him see out the season and take stock then.

That's true but why oh why can't he do it more often? Strikers HAVE to score regularly, it's fundamental. Let's hope AJ can suddenly find the net on a regular basis.

Also, quite a few comments on here about Page's negative approach that invites pressure. I see this as a basic problem because unless you give the opposition problems over the long term you'll lose more often than not.

He did assist well but the Barnsley goal is an error, not sure why people including Page are defending it, head it out, head it behind or head it to the keeper just don't head it across your own box, basic defending!

So the Vale win a game, the manager picks players that many OVFer's were moaning about, the manager comes on Praise and Grumble and explains the rational viz the retained list, so the moaners turn their attention to Lee Blakeman for a mistake and which I'm sure he corrected within a millisecond, come on guys get a grip.
