Why was he murdered?

For his money stash, no seriously it got to arrests and was given up on. My parents had the newsagents next door so I knew him well, we a special air spray for him. But he always had a bargain, tried selling me dog food once and he knew I hadn't got a dog.

I used to love Fantasy World. Loads of us at school used to be in to Dungeons & Dragons (and that was just the teachers etc...) and we used to be able to get all the weird 20/4/ 8/ 849248 sided die from there. Plus, if you looked hard enough, there'd usually be some photo of an actress with 'em flopped out in some magazine. Bazaar was also good if you were a 14 year old desperate for a glimpse of nipple.

On a more cerebral note, the 2nd hand book shop on Hope Street was a lovely shop. (On the flip, has anyone, ever, mourned the passing of Booklands?)

Also, in the 80s, Newcastle used to have loads of 'alternative culture' shops. They were called things like Grapevine or Rainbow and sold patchouli oil and tie dye and Nancy Friday books. There was also that brilliant second hand clothes shop on the way up to Ritzys. They sold some amazing clothes, I really wish I could go back there now and buy some of the lovely thick overcoats they used to sell.

I've still got all my AD&D stuff boxed, spent many happy hours wasting my life away.

Wasn't that clothes shop called Grapevine, I used to get loads of stuff from there.

Places I miss, the record shop Porthill end of Wolstanton High Street, used to get all my 7" singles and MOD badges from there. Haydens in Burslem for pastel coloured grandad shirts, they've probably still got stock behind the shutters.

Gio's in 'Castle, great bar and the best pizza and garlic mayo ever.

There was a fantastic toy shop in the Fine Fare arcade in 'Castle, old school Subbuteo and Lego from there.

Barkers chippy in Morris Square and the Tuck Shop in Orchard Street Wolstanton for 1/4 of sherbert lemons.

I'm not sure. Was it half way between the bus station and Newcastle High? The upepr floor sold loads of thick overcoats and the ground floor had a glass case with lace gloves and old tights and stuff in it (probably what you bought)?

Discount Giant - the biggest name in low wages, I mean prices. Used to love wearing that green waistocat and cap with a huge yellow smiley face on it, slave labour wasn't just rife in Asia back then....... :)

You didn't have tiny bespectacled Melv from the Boslem store as your night shift supervisor either! ;)

Still got the scar on my thumb from where I sliced the side of it off and Danny and Vicky (blasts from the past) had to take me to hospital while the management just laughed and counted their corn flakes and listened to those really cheesy jingles!!
