Pubs - evergreens in cobridge - always good for a laugh and the ancient brit at stanfields, top pub and a top landlord rip

 

I remember the Brit..if i was on my way to Tunstall for a night out (which wan't often) used to pop in there..and the Goose..is that still there?

 

Tunstall had some fine pubs..a relative used to run one..Cheshire Cheese I think it was called, somehwere oppoist wherer Kwik Save used to be I think..but that was many many years ago..I was never old enough to go in when he was running it

talking of barber shops, anyone 'experience' a Frank Butler Cut in Tunstall (opposite Tunstall Assurance)? He must have been about 900 in the late 60's / early 70's!! Another great one was Wild Bill Eardley up Goldenhill, ask for whatever style you liked & get what Bill gave you - short back and sides. Classic line was 'David Bowie doesn't have his hair like that!', 'He would if he came here, son!'
