Cup runs should be a bonus income not relied upon. Remember we had 2 cup runs under V2001(Villa and Spurs) and then went down 18 months later. It's how it's invested back into the team that matters, it shouldn't just be relied upon to keep the club going!

Last year we did pretty well progression wise but probably didn't make as much had we gone out a round earlier but pulled out Man Utd for example. Had BT not decided to televise Shortwood we'd have made even less so I suppose that compensated somewhat

I have budgeted for 800k net of Vat ST in a total Club income of 3M which includes £200k contribution from myself (25% net ST sales)

Last season in total cost me 1.6M to keep Club afloat

Before McGivern our Players budget (Salaries, 13% Employer NI, Bonus, Agent Fees and relocation costs) reflected in 73% (Football League calculations)

I suspect we will hit that ceiling this week and then be under Embargo until Xmas depending on gates and Cup receipts

Trust this helps

Appreciate that info, thanks.

I know I raised an issue on the figures you stated but I do agree in the main that you ought not really advertise the budget(if indeed this is totally correct!) My concern also is your continued use of twitter to "pass on" info that would otherwise not be seen/heard by the mass of Valiants who wish to have serious details of club issues aired. You did state some time ago that we were all to "disregard" any news that was actually not posted by you on the Club official site, so I remain a sceptical fan as far as your posts on here go.:shifty::unsure:

That sounds like the ****tist business plan that I've ever heard.

It's not a business plan - it's hoping for the best, which is what every club in our league will be doing.....unless you know of a way to guarantee Cup runs?

Quite how do you propose we sign quality players after we lost over 1k season-ticket holders?

It's not that long ago the boast was about how great our support was - clearly, those people don't fancy a non-promotion season.

I agree, the missing 1300 season ticket holders should be pointing their fingers at each other as to why they havent bought this year you cant blame smurf for having a reduced budget its up to all the missing fans to get back on board.

I suppose the fans who arent strapped for cash could still purchase one before kick off as I used to buy mine the week before anyway so heres hoping we get some more sold in the next 3-4 weeks

So, what happens if the Club loses another 1000 fans this year?

It's pathetic to say that fans are to blame for all this.

What motivation, other than blind loyalty, is there to renew?

Smurf continue to make mistakes and after nearly 2 years of ownership, it's all a little sad.

It's a little sad you have a vendetta against the bloke when you don't even support the club! ;)

He's put together some great offers, yes he needs to get off social media/ignore the idiots and totally reform the commercial department but he's still the person who has made us financially stable and put more money into the club than anyone in the clubs lifetime arguably.

It is not the run that matters, it is who it is against that counts financially, not many lower league teams play on TV at OT. Also compare our promotion chances to other average gates in this Div, the club can only grow in small steps, but falling ST sales put a damper on it, only management on and off the pitch can turn the tide, I am still hopeful after a lifetime.

So there is no chance of signing O'connor then?

What was the point of trailing him!? Did we expect him to play for free!?

There's a chance, but realistically one of the following would have to happen:

1. We spend what's remaining of the budget on him, and we might not be able to sign anyone else, based on what Norman has said.

2. He takes a huge pay cut compared to what he was on at Rotherham.

I gather that after initial talks the two parties were quite a way apart.

Sorry guys but these numbers just don't seem to add up to me.

Entire development squad gone, high earners Hughes, Loft, Jmw plus Griff, Taylor and Chilvers who would have all been on decent money all off the wage bill.

Yes season ticket sales have been slow, but surely the enormous savings we have made more than cancel this out, and then some!!

I have renewed, but to expect people to renew just in blind faith is both ignorant and arrogant from the club.

Its a product at the end of the day and people want to see a good side for their hard earned cash.

I just feel like we could have sold 12,000 Season tickets, and we would still be skint somehow!! Getting really tired of this now.

Frustrated.

I would hardly say Chilvers, Griff & Taylor were high-earners. We've made 4 new signings who I suspect are on significantly higher wages than all these. As frustrating as it is (& it is) there isn't a bottomless pit & to be 1200 ST's sales down is a major part of the problem. Football was & always will be a catch 22 situation in that floating fans will come to see a winning team but they won't come to see a losing one. Hopefully we start the season well.
