  1. Mate we can't even afford fix the bogs, never mind pay 1.2 million for a striker. Dream on

  2. The best squad business we could do in January is in-house. Secure Walters on a 5 year deal, and then proceed to give him time off the bench regularly. Highlight that we can offer Arblaster stability, playing time and development and emphasise he enjoys playing here - to ensure he stays. Map out a clear plan of action for Devine to convince Spurs to let him carry on developing here. Sort out cover for Clark and rotate a few parts = even better. But those 3 points above alone would make it a successful January.

  3. For me I think we'll end up spending on another striker and a left back in January and, now that we've got an "in" to teams in the Championship and Premier League, we'll also try and get a loan from higher up in the Striker Dept. Once we have our full squad back and weve added a couple more players, we could get back to the sort of results we had at the start of the season. Be lovely to get a result tonight. I'd also love us to score more than one goal to shut people up/give AC a bit of breathing space so the club can concentrate on something else than people losing their <ovf censored>

  4. Ahhh...so Loft getting injured wasn't actually an injury?

  5. We should also be looking at available and talented players for development...regardless of their position? Get a season, or more, out of them then sell on for a profit is the model we are looking to establish!

  6. Why sell the only regular scorer we have ? Only a few months into a 2 year deal, under 30 (27?) and if he does score double figures in L1 from midfield would think £0.5 mil is a minimum (would Blackpool have had a sell on or did we get Ben as free agent?) Of the few positives there are in this poor run, one is Crozzer finding a position/formation/way of playing that suits Ben, he’s still the ratting/competitive, box to box midfielder he’s always been but he’s now getting in positions to score more often compared to last season and more importantly actually scoring when he’s there. It’s ironic that he is not the most technically gifted of our midfielders but currently has the most impact on the goals front at least.

  7. Also to be fair, our own strikers have had injuries!

  8. I actually think, if both fit a forward line of Uche and Wilson could be highly effective. When both have been on their own, they have to battle and fight for the forward balls too much. Uche has been doing the battling for balls rather well but then is never in position to actually finish things off. Wilson if played into space can surely finish things off or use his pace to run into the space Uche creates from stretching defenders. Doubful it will be seen much unless Wilson gets a contract extension.

  9. Can we have a definition of what woke is please. If it's caring about people I'm all in.

  10. Give loft a chance to get fit and up to speed, and then let him feel the warmth from the vale fans. ?? and you never know, we could have a decent player.(tin hat on time)

  11. Show Spurs how well we have looked after Devine then pitch for his club and international team mate Dane Scarlett. He’s a really dynamic player and would be excellent for us.

  12. Think we should aim for more than 3 points in January personally [emoji16]

  13. I don't see that he did say how they would have done at Vale. He was just pointing out that none of them has shone this season, and that Garrity has scored more than any of them. Simples.

  14. So you're basically saying that I make an impossible statement (based purely on facts on how many league goals have been scored by them), then say that you think we'd be stronger with any of the strikers mentioned (based purely on conjecture). I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to argue.

  15. I think last night showed why we have to tie Walters down to a 3yr+ deal now,him and Plant could be future money makers for us. It also showed how important it is to stay in League One because both of those players will be worth a lot more top end of league one/championship than back in League Two,so if this is the model we are aiming for then we need to aim high and get the younger players signed up before others sniff around

  16. Sam Smith could be added to both lists too ie a name bandied about but out injured. Just goes to show what a gamble, and an expensive gamble at that, it can be signing any striker at this level.

  17. Just had a quick squizz at how the proven strikers that were bandied about on here as being the answer to all our prayers are doing so far this season. Cole Stockton, Tyler Walker, Aaron Pressley, JCH (Brian's choice), Tyrese Simpson, Dale Taylor - 9 league goals between the lot of them. Garritys got more than any of them.

  18. On that, I only found out a few days ago that Tom is the son of one of my business partners - just glimpsed his profile on LinkedIn and there was a picture of Tom in his new 'Nam kit.

  19. Plant made at least 3 runs to get behind the Burton defence on Saturday but nobody picked up on it.

  20. Just when Sang is starting to look a player on the right... I'd (eventually) like to see Plant further forward, in the Chislett / Devine role, or wider.

  21. Plymouth away last season was one of the best performances from a Vale defender for years. I love DJ. Strong as an ox, got a mistake in him, but is also capable of Beckham-esque long balls.

  22. A quality striker is out of our budget and too risky (all eggs in one basket) get experienced management into the club on a short term basis to motivate existing players to get mean and ugly ... frighten them into scoring. Bring in a Manager that loved motivating players ... Neil Warnock
