Vale or Bradford

Which would you have preferred, Vale getting to the league cup final, like Bradford, or Vale getting promotion?

Having just got back from having a drink, I think I'd prefer to be a Bradford supporter.

Promotions come and go, but this is a once in a lifetime experience for them.

Promotions don't 'come and go' at all. Certainly not where your own team are concerned.

Our last Promotion season was in 1994, nearly 20 years ago. I'm sure I'm not the only person of the younger generation of Vale fans yet to see a Vale Promotion in my lifetime.:(

To be more accurate, it is Cup Finals that come and go, a one-day high that cannot seriously be preferred to promotion which lifts a club for a minimum of a year, but hopefully for many, many seasons.

It is also the League Cup, and whilst I applaud Bradford CITY totally, and wish them well in the final, it is not quite as special as the FA Cup, which still awaits a lower league finalist.

An easy choice in my opinion - especially after suffering so many seasons in this awful division and playing Dagenham, Fleetwood Burton Accrington etc instead of Sheffield United or other much bigger teams who don't just bring 37 away fans. No disrespect to those clubs I have named, they have done amazing things on limited budgets especially Dagenham and Accrington.

I'm pretty sure that if Bradford don't get promoted this season, their own fans will say they would swap the Wembley day out for a higher division - especially if they get beaten by three, four or even more goals.

I hope both Vale and Bradford get promoted along with Southend though I suspect Rotherham may grab a place in the top 3. It would be nice to see Gillingham fall away, and Fleetwood fail. Rochdale. Dagenham or Wycombe may come through with a late run and win promotion through the play-offs.

Gillingham wont fall away and still watch for Chesterfield.

You are probably right that Gillingham will make it, it's wishful thinking on my part as I detest their ground, the area and find their manager difficult to like. They have been pitiful at home lately though, but like ourselves they are capable of winning just about anywhere on the road and this is what has kept them in the top 2.

I forgot about Chesterfield - agreed they are a very decent side, and a lot will depend on whether a certain Marc Richards can maintain his current good form and whether they sell that youngster with the name I can't spell.

If I had to put money on it Id go for Vale, Rotherham and Gillingham but heart says Vale, Bradford and Southend. I quite liked Rotherham until they found a lump of gristle and made it manager so sadly cant include them in my 'wish list' but their ground is fantastic and if they do get promoted it will be a credit to L1.

Promotion for me, as promotion see your club progress in the eyes of the footballing world. Bradford have made a major cup final but if they don't go up, come next August they will still be seen as a league 2 minnow. Whereby come next August we could be regarded as being a level higher maybe held in the same esteem as the likes of Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday.

Promotion sees your club progress cup runs don't... They're short term boosts.

...and I presume we could probably add Northampton to the list of promotion hopefuls now, following their 2-1 win at Aldershot tonight.
