Tom Cleverley said at the fans forum Lorent didn't have a release clause at Plymouth nothing was mentioned about us having a sell on clause but I think we will definitely have one given that Plymouth didn't actually pay us the full £1.2m as they are paying it installments instead (rumours were also going round a few months ago that they actually missed a payment but whether that was true or not I don't actually know). I think the deal was that Plymouth couldn't pay the full fee straight away so we allowed them to pay it in installments as long as we had a sell-on clause deal in place. A bit like what Micky Adams did when Jordan Hugill left us to join Preston.

Normal to pay in instalments over the period of the contract, max 3 years so why a clause?

Ray, we have as much chance of getting Freddie Woodman as I have of winning Miss World. I keep looking at Matt Rush at Boreham Wood, scoring loads in the National League bit like Tolaj.

Never give up Jean, there is still time 🙂

Back to the footy though, like you say i would like us to take a Tolaj type gamble again and look at Rush or Ormerod

I agree with some points, the jury is still out on his ability to sign good players certainly. Many people defend him saying “well it’s all who would join” but for our situation, paying no players and sticking with what we have is better than buying and wasting money on poor players until the good ones appear. That’s what I would be telling fans. It’s also what a shrewd manager would do.

The sad reality is the likes of Gray, Hernandez, Magliore, Sherif have all contributed next to nothing and that’s good money wasted, although you can perhaps make a slight case for Gray despite his lack of goals. I think he has shown some good leadership skills when he has come on and still shown signs of driving a team forward when needed.

A good manager can galvanize a team and although I think there may have been wider reasons, the fact Curtis, Johnson and Cole walked out has to say something, as they are all experienced players who will know what a good manager is.

Curtis had agreed to leave long before Brady came. Cole was actually a waste of space and had wanted out long before Brady came. Check out how many starts/goals he has at Luton. Johnson made 4 league starts for us and as far as I can see, is no longer playing league football.

So far this season the stats of the two non league strikers who have been mentioned on here are

Matt Rush who is 25 and is at Boreham Wood,he has 25 goals and 3 assists in 44 games

Danny Ormerod is 19 and is at Fylde,he has 27 goals and 6 assists in 39 games

Ormerod is OOC at the end of June.

Rush was only signed last season so depends if he signed a 2 or 3 year deal.

Why did we sign Hernandez and  Andre Gray?

No player will sign a one year contract unless old. Another club will offer 2 years

Good, wouldn't be bothered if any of the ones I've put one year deal next too left. Croasdale only good in L2, Ojo old, Garrity injured. None of them have earned anything other than a 1 year, maybe with an option.

I would take a chance on Garrity. Croasdale is 50:50. The rest of the out of contract players can go in my opinion

Do we have a sell on clause?

I read, admittedly on Facebook,  but an argyle fan was quoting the chairman as saying there were no clauses in LT's contact.  No release clause and no sell on clause.

Actually this ,unfortunately,  makes sense.  We did have a Release clause.  Plymouth trigger that, reach a deal with him, he says yes, I'm going.  Why would they give us a sell on clause?  There was nothing we could do to stop the transfer, they didn't need a sweetener for us.  Harsh reality sadly

Matt Hancock alluded to there being a sell on clause as Plymouth wanted to pay in instalments which, clause met or not, we do not have to do, and that gave us at least a reasonable amount of bargaining power with regards to add ons.
