On loan until the end of the season

  • Dejaune Brown — release
  • Ethon Archer — try to retain
  • Joe Gauci — try to retain
  • Eli Campbell — release
  • Martin Sherif —release

I would definitely like to see Martin Sherif on a full season's loan next season.

His size makes people forget that he is a 19-year-old kid who has played about 1200 minutes total of men's pro football.

His recent games show me that he is being coached to assert himself more, and there is definitely a good footballer in there to be developed further.

Agreed. However his finishing is shocking. He missed two complete sitters the other night. In reality we should have beaten Posh 1-5 but for his poor finishing.

I’d bring Sherrif in permanently think he’ll smash it in league 2, 5 year deal incoming!

Osh,

I agree.

But composure in front of goal may also come with more experience.

The first one, definitely. The second, he seemed to slow down a little, and I think he was absolutely shattered at that point.

We are having to work much harder since we are not in possession, and playing a ton of games.

Agreed m8. And as Alan rightly points out, he's young and Brady might be able to coach this out of him. Sadly Vale fans aren't the most patient bunch and I'm not sure he'll be cut that much slack.

Having said that, he could score the only goal in the game with Wigan tomorrow and win us three points and those two misses will be a dark and distant memory. 👍

We've got people who have posted on here in the past saying we should sling off Shorrock and Walters and I had seen the rare post being happy Dipepa went -- so definitely agree there's an aspect of fans out there that just aren't patient or understanding with young players, thinking they should be better than their peers already who have years of experience on them.

I'm ambivalent on Sherif myself, don't have much of an opinion - except to say if he isn't staying or a target for next season, then that pains me that he is seen as our best available in the squad right now  - it doesn't paint the best picture of the ones under contract. I will wait to see what happens in the transfer window (and wait to see players play before judging)

I get it. I really do. But they were shocking misses the other night. On a par with Brown scuffing wide against Rotherham.

Fine margins m8.

He is supposed to be good at bringing out the best in what you would call mediocre players, gets them to play to their strengths etc so he might just sign a couple like Sherrif

Spot on about not encouraging or giving young players time and patience to develop

The defensive record vs our striking record tells that if we had some goals upfront we’d probably be a comfortable mid table. We need focus on a goal keep and upfront first and foremost. Can’t risk loans. We need a goal scorer to help next season.

I know you like to always be positive but come on.

The bloke has got boomerangs for feet.

If you were watching the pre-match warm up at Chelsea, he was knocking shots in without any problems. He just needs to achieve the same calmness during games.

I must be watching something else then.

He's an absolute donkey. Hackford was better.
