The defensive record vs our striking record tells that if we had some goals upfront we’d probably be a comfortable mid table. We need focus on a goal keep and upfront first and foremost. Can’t risk loans. We need a goal scorer to help next season.

I know we have Stockley(not really prolific though) and we aren't sure if he will be here next season or not but i would like to see us get an experienced David McGoldrick/Andy Cook type in both proven at this level and then a younger National league striker(probably cost a fee) like Ormerod/Rush(not ian)

There's still time if you naturalise yourself elsewhere by 'marrying local women, learning a local language, and living in the country for five years'.

Sherif gets into veery good scoring positions then doesn't score.  The reason is because he is veery young and gets over-excited.  He needs to be coached and slow down in those situations then we would have a good player.  If Rudgie was 20 years younger he'd turn him into a million pound player.

Just out of interest,I know we have like 200 different coaches at the club but do we have a striker coach?? Maybe that's where a Marc Richards could help younger strikers at the club or even Stockley if he wants to take on a coaching role

So that's the level we're happy with? If you're good enough to be a squad player for a low ranked international side you'll do for Vale?

I like Ben Waine, he works hard, seems a decent bloke & is maximising his talent. But, for annual losses of £6m+ I think we should be getting better.

Our striking options this season since Tolaj left have been laughable & is why we are heading back to L2. Raw & inexperienced or experienced & past it.

We had Lee Bradbury who was a great striker in his day but not sure if the coaches we have replaced Bradbury with were strikers in their playing days

Northampton players who i think are going to be out of contract

Sam Hoskins 33yr old attacking midfield

Lee Burge 33yr old keeper

Cameron McGheehan 31yr old midfielder

Tom Eaves 34yr old striker

I have mentioned these because Brady took them there i think(maybe not Hoskins) so he might show an interest, just to clarify I aren't saying we should sign any of those players.

There might be more out of contract who he took there but I haven't had chance look through all of them

Sign a 20 grand a week striker and rack up some serious losses you mean?

Where did I say that?

Does anyone really think that Waine, Faal, Brown, Sherif etc should be the limit of our expectations?

First priority of any recruitment at any level should be Goalkeeper & Goalscorer. It's these 2 areas that have cost us.

It's not lack of budget, it's how we've spent it.

Don't forget that that the 6m you refer to includes the cost of buying Tolaj however the money recuperated on him and spent on Waine won't show until next year's accounts.

It may be that we have lost 6m again, we may have lost more, or may have lost less. We won't know until next year.

I think Waine struggles out wide but is a menace up front, he ends up playing out wide because we have no others who can do the job there.

Live down this way so got a semi decent grasp on the Cobblers somewhat in a misery loves company kind of way. Hoskins had probably his most productive time as a player under Brady. Be surprised if he was to leave the Cobblers especially as they are set to receive some investment ahead of next season.

Eaves and Burge I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. Stockley is a better version of Eaves.

What are your thoughts on McGheehan

You just know now that you have said it out first 2 summer signings are going to be Eaves & Burge (sounds like a itv detective series)

Not the worst option to rotate with Garrity.

I’d keep an eye on Jon Guthrie as a potential signing option. He was a key player in that back line under Brady especially if Heneghan moves on.

The moment I pressed submit reply I realised this was a serious case of foreshadowing.

It will also include the upside of the Dipepa sale, and weren’t there some youth sales as well?  I would envisage will outweigh the transfer expenditure, but we are guessing as have been kept in the dark.
