Some interesting facts discussed yesterday! Lincoln have 5 players who have played every game plus there are over 10 players with over thirty games! Not massive players rotation there! I think the previous season we got promoted FG had similar player stats.

The Jake taylor who got relegated with Morecambe, then got released at the end of the following season and hasn't played in the league since? Yea we missed out there 😂

Name one player he let go that went on to do better elsewhere…

I like the look of g hall through the middle

I don't, or at least, unconvinced - he's got pace but end product lacking. I think at the time we signed him most of us started to realise we needed that creativity in the middle and were missing Chizzy a bit. It was probably something we were hoping he'd fill the void in, but then we had absolute nonsense like Moore saying he was a number 10 on a Wednesday, and then played RWB on the following Saturday.

But who knows? I agree with you on general feeling on the squad btw - just think the way the tactics are speak volumes for what players do and don't do. Going from Moore to seeing what Brady puts on offer shows that even with the same players. That was my point I was making which you laughed at, btw.

Maybe it'll be different next season with a change to 4 at the back and better style of play and some of these players would show us something different. Like I say though, agree with you - after this season it's hard to make a very strong case for many of the players being ones you'd definitely want.

This is completely tactical stuff behind why this happens, nothing to do with the individual players.

They do what they are supposed to do or they don't play, simple as that. If they do shoot from range if they are being told not to and create 'better' chances (all this stuff driven by data and that xG nonsense now), then they better score or again, they won't play.

You think our current midfield players are capable of defence splitting passes and goals from 20 yards but they were told not to do it?  Not sure I can get behind that theory with you, but I admire your loyalty to them.

I think g hall has suffered from being given too many different roles in different positions he hasn't had any consistency in that which I think explains his inconsistency in performance.

I didn't know what type of player he was when he was brought in but now I see him more of a ball carrier with plenty of energy and blistering pace. There is enough there to be worth nurturing and I think he has goals in him but I think he needs to be given a position, perhaps advanced midfield where garrity was playing for a couple of games when he came back in.

I don't think he is a wide player and I don't think he is a playmaker either I think he is an outlet and I think he can drive us forwards but if we can find a player who can actually deliver the balls over the top and through the lines that shipley tries to play but isn't good enough to land then for my money george hall is the player to burst forwards and get on the end of them.

I think they were told to get the ball forward in different ways, I see more attempts of players playing forward balls like that under Brady than they did under Moore. When certain players are clearly not capable or it causes risky turnovers, then they will be told to prioritize retention over risk. You see that happening at elite level all the time as well.

We've had a few risky turnovers happening early in the season resulting in goals against us, so yeah I do think there's a bit of tactics in it as much as players individually making mistakes or just not risking it.

I agree that brady has been asking for more forward play from them, Ive certainly seen signs that waters is trying to get up the pitch more.

Perhaps where we disagree is that I think our central midfielders have failed to deliver what JB has asked for and Im not convinced that they are capable of doing so.

Shipley tries but he plays maybe one decent ball in 10 on a good day, ojo chooses the safe route every time, garrity tries to play the final ball sometimes but he has always lacked quality on the ball and waters seems to be shadowing ojo and has picked up all his bad habits. Byers is more intelligent with the ball but he isn't available enough.

I'd be happy to see the back of all of them.

As an aside, by my count Vale will have played 61 competitive games by the end of this season.

I'm not sure if that is an all-time Vale record, but it has got to be close.

Connor Hall, Cameron Humphreys and George Hall are the players who are into the 40s in match appearances.

Think we played more games in 95 96 season. League cup was 2 legs then plus 46 league games all 3 fa cup ties we played against Crystal Palace Everton and Leeds went to replays. We also played in the Anglo itallian cup where there was a group stage part we also played and beat West brom over 2 legs and lost to genoa in the final. Think we played 62 or 63 games that season.

Good shout, Andy.

95-96 season was 62 games by my count.

And three outfield players - Andy Porter, Jon McCarthy and Steve Guppy - all topped the 60-game mark!

Looks like the awful faceache aggregator 'Efl Insights' read OVF. Passing off suggestions in here for Danny Ormerod as a transfer rumour for the Vale. (Clearly must be, because there's no reliable journalist putting it forward)

Well done, OVF. Officially creating rumours for the internet.

Wonder how long until DaveQPR starts posting about Rhys again?

That McKirdy chap scored 22 goals for Swindon the season after we let him go...

I struggle to have any faith in our recruitment.

I don't think any of the players signed over the summer and winter windows have improved us at all.

I am sure that changes will be coming on the recruitment side because Brady doesn't seem that impressed with the current set up

Exactly this. Moore’s undoing is that he should have kept faith with all the key players. After October he just messed around with lineups every week. Brady is still doing the same.

Find the best squad and stick to it. Should have started with the Peterborough team v Wigan. If it’s awful, sub them then.

In fairness to JB, he is juggling his available players during an exceptional number of games, ensuring he can field a competitive team.
