I’d  like to see you get over an injury like Byers has this season- it isn’t a minor knock it’s a broken bone …..they don’t just mend themselves!!
Isak at Liverpool has only just come back from a broken bone after months out and I suspect Liverpool have better medics than Vale !

What's a medic got to do with a broken bone? Is there something in their magic sponge that cures it?

So much for 'I know Scotland really well' but then won't play one of the players from there with a proven record 🤷‍♂️

You are allowed to know Scotland, but not rate Rauri - especially if you have had the benefit of seeing him in training.

If Brady wants him back fine by me, likewise fine if he wants to move him on.

For all the debate has done precious little in a Vale shirt to warrant the air time he gets on here.

'Precious little' is interesting, because I don't know if that says more about Ruari or the rest of the squad.

Or the quality of the opposition.  5 of his 6 goals against Malden and Tiptree and u23/reserve sides in the EFL Trophy.  Perhaps that is a better assessment of his level/The quality of the Scottish Championship?

Very comfortable with my ‘precious little’ comment based on what I’ve seen overall.

Bear him no malice, but maybe a move would be better for his career.

I will leave Brady to decide if he sees him the best use of resources/wage in Div 4 next year.

The point I'm making is, when you consider the really woeful stats on the whole, there are more players not turning up or showing quality than Ruari. It's rather strange when you look at the whole picture IMO.

He'd shown enough for me that he is better than some of the poor players we have on show. I haven't seen him in training though so will defer to the coaches on that.

Saying the above it doesn't help that we are so reliant on loans, seems we would rather play Faal or Sherif over ones under contract.

On the same token, if you asked people if they'd rather Clark or Debrah over Magloire and Eli Campbell, I think we know what the answers are there too.

It'll be the year 2030 and Ruari has come back from his latest spell north of the border at Cowdenbeath and there'll still be some people trying to convince others/themselves that this time he's ready to make an impact in English football.

You could insert Rico Richards into that sentence and it would also be true for some.

I would also completely co-sign that. On the subject of the lesser spotted Rico he's actually come on for Walsall today. They're 3-0 down at home to Cheltenham but minor details.

Yep. Game of opinions isn't it - looking at the top scorers of players still at the club, Stockley is up there but barely figures, and that rankles a lot of people (as much as I've been understanding why he doesn't get much of a look in or why I don't think he figures much next season either)

Be interesting what strikeforce we enter next season with. Waine staying would be something of a coup.

But none of that makes Rauri the answer.  Never understand DM’s reticence to use Stockley when he was available earlier in the season - has scored at this level previously, and has managed 3 league goals in 2026 despite picking up injuries along the way. He also makes his strike partners better.  Going back to Rauri, if Brady sees him as best use of his budget then fine by me - likewise if he wants to move him on.

Clark and Deborah were I feel part of plan to reduce the playing budget in January, rather than pure footballing decisions.

Must admit - have been cheering myself up by reading Walsall's fans forum. Always a good read!

For me it just comes down to what we are replacing players with - obviously going to be underwhelming in Jan in our position.

If we recruit well then we all move on and love the next player - when we don't recruit so well we lament many choices and decisions and question them. That's all it really is.

We seem poorer on set plays since Ruari and Curtis left, though we haven't been fantastic on them anyway.

I'd have agreed on Stockley earlier in the season but watching him more recently it is a bit more painful (but it's not just him). It doesn't help the rest of the team often play so deep at times so we can never do what works well for Stockley. Brady wants his front man closing down a lot more which is why I think he prefers Sherif's relative pace over our older strikers.

Of the two would be far happier seeing Stockley in a Vale shirt than Paton next season.  Still contributes for me.

As you have said earlier game of opinions, and ultimately neither of us really have a say do we.
