Yep that was a big one too. Didn’t he bin everyone off who was out of contract? I’m sure we ended up with less than 10 players when he was done.

He did, as well as send off Scott Burgess and Theo Robinson to train with the academy team until they left which they both eventually did.

Since it is looking like a big clear out, a bounce back is not likely if lessons have been learnt. Collecting players off the peg, at a price may scrape a promotion, but without the character that a lengthier team build gives.

This is my thinking regarding next year.

Most of these players are not L1 level. However we know that some of these players are top end L2 level as has been proven in previous seasons.

Whilst this season has been a complete joke, for next season in L2 we don’t have to rip absolutely everything up. But what we need to do is ensure that we don’t have too many players on the books when we return to L1 so we can’t then add the real quality we need.

Players like Connor Hall and Stockley are worthy of a one year deal in L2 for example.

Garrity is worth a Mitch Clark type deal - if he plays he gets a good wage but if he’s constantly in and out as has been the case the last two years then it doesn’t cost the club.

Of the players under contract, if we were to get offers for them that’s fine. But they can all do a job in the league below so no point wasting money paying people off.

A lot of players will go when contracts expire at the end of the season and rightly so. But if 10 stay and we add 10 more with quality and a few loans I don’t think that’s going to be too detrimental.

I know we were and still are bottom of the league and its hard to bring players in january but who out of bradys signings have been any good. Archer had a couple of good games at the start then done nothing since. Magloire is garbage apart from Sunderland game. Sherif and Campbell Young lads on loan from Everton not good enough for league one at the moment. Hernandez unfit cant run and overweight. Gray legs gone looks uninterested and doesnt look like the goalscorer from a few seasons ago.

I know Brady wasnt helped with cole and Curtis going but he sent Clark and debrah out on loan and the replacements magloire and campbell are worse and got rid of plant who id have kept and recalled shorrock and basically not used him in the first team when we basically have a busy schedule of games.

And what did that achieve apart from a promotion on his CV and a totally disjointed club which we have now. Don't get me started...

That new forward he signed, B Garrity, wasn't very impressive either

Ridiculous to blame DC for where we are now. DC brought success and a winning mentality, that squad of 2021/2022 was very together and playing for the shirt (unlike this seasons). That was down to DCs man management. I think the personal circumstances surrounding what happened with DC at the end of that promotion season, then Flitcrofts involvement in the summer window of 2022 and the budget cut for Jan 2023 window are mitigating factors for DCs failure in the end. The hierarchy’s  failure behind the scenes is the reason why we are where we are now and they’ve repeated it twice now in 3 years and it boils down to recruitment.

What i would like to see is the EFL bring in a rule wear all loan players return to there parent clubs on the 1st April so the mangers can see them in training or matches before the end of season and the retaining list is made.

Just to follow on from this…

Players under contract:

2 years: G. Hall, Walters, Shorrock

1 year: Marosi, Gabriel, John, Humphreys, Gordon, Headley, Shipley, Byers, Richards, Waine, Paton

That’s 14 players for next years and frankly I think they can all do a job in L2. Whether that’s as first choice or back up as new signings come in that remains to be seen.

Of the players out of contract I would offer deals to:

C. Hall (1 Year), Stockley (1 year), Garrity (2 years)

That starts us with 17 solid players for L2, with most of our contract at the end of the following year so that the squad can be assessed ready for whichever league we are in following that.

8 good signings gives us a solid 25 man squad. Quality over quantity.

GK: Marosi - 1 new signing needed, probably as a no.1. Maybe even a younger keeper to develop too.

DEF: Gabriel (RWB), John (RB), Humphreys (RCB), Hall (LCB), Gordon (LB), Headley (LWB), Shorrock (LWB) - only thing missing really are two no-nonsense centre halves, maybe one experienced pro who has been there and done it, and another to develop.

MID: Byers (CM), Walters (CM), Shipley (CM), Garrity (CAM), Richards (CAM) - another quality holding midfielder to add to these (maybe two for injuries and rotation) but I think they are all more than good enough for L2.

FWD: Paton and  Stockley offer you something different in the advanced role. Waine I always think looks better on the left, and George Hall needs to make the right his own. Two more centre forwards and two more wingers needed though. Definitely the area we need the most work on.

Whilst we need to get rid of a lot of players, that’s more owing to the fact that our squad is far too big. I just don’t think we need a major overhaul - more of a cull and add some quality into the mix.

Now that the season is over, these are the only players I really want to see in the squad. Everyone else can be youth players to see whether they are worth keeping hold of

Cannot understand why Paton, Debrah and Clark sent out on loan and why Plant was and Shorrock disappeared completely off the radar. Surely there must be somebody in the Academy who could play up front. Sheer madness getting aged decrepit free agents whose legs had gone (Danny Ward ex Huddersfield  was without a club and had a proven scoring record) and taking on a player from a club bottom of the Northern Premier League. Recent team selections have convince me that Jon Brady is Darren Moore wearing a mask

You should know by now that RZ even blames DC for the weather 😉

Just putting this in the right thread now

As for a keeper and i know i will get the but but but he is from a club in the relegation zone,I wonder if Brady will have an eye on 33yr old Lee Burge the Northampton keeper

Oh and this one

If we are to look at loans in the summer then maybe look at one or two who have done well this season at another League Two club if their parent clubs want them going back to a club in league two that is

Has BBB played at all for Millwall (or anyone) since signing for them last year?
