Really pleased with the performance tonight, Lorent ran his taters off all night, the whole squad seem fitter than last season; to be honest before the game I expected Cardiff to turn us over…. But if we can keep up those performances we will be okay this season……

So pleased with tonight. We were fantastic. I really like this team and the characters in it. Especially Clark, Debah an Tolaj. We could be on to something special here.

No difference then the sending off for Headley , some consistency needed.

Shocking tackle. That’s worse than Headley’s. We never seem to get the rub of the green with these sort of decisions.

A half competent referee and linesman and we win that game. Loads of chances and just a final decision away from getting it right.

Clark was superb first half and they really struggled to handle him. I also thought Gordon grew into the game after a shaky start. Ojo was as good as he's been with us...he was everywhere.

Curtis did really well up front and looked disappointed to be taken off but I thought he did well in the air and caused issues. Keeper had a couple of iffy moments but dealt pretty well with everything and caught rather than punched.

Tolaj was the best player on the pitch tonight. Work rate, desire and some of his hold up play was outstanding.

Defence kept their shape well against a team that like to spread it wide. Fortunately we defended pretty well and their wide players, particularly the one with rolled down socks, was awful. Debrah probably the pick of the bunch.

I was a bit critical of Moore on Saturday but I thought he got it spot on tonight. Great pressing from the front and on another day, we win 3 or 4-0.

Thought Cardiff were disappointing to be honest, considering they'll still have a few Championship standard players on their books. Their keeper looked awful with his feet and was inches away from an error on a few occasions. Their wide men looked the part but I can't remember so many balls being overhit. What they were good at was creating space in one or two passes, which can take us 5. They didn't do an awful lot with it though.

It says it all to me that they didn't really clap their team off at the end. They knew they got away with one really.

How can you be that incompetent when stood in that position?

Doubtless his right hand uncut fingernail was offside....🥴

Should have won. Bastard Lino.
great night though. I’m crippled, out with blisters until next Saturday vs Burton.

Well, I think many of us can just be relieved we saw a great display after Saturday. For a side to come down from the Championship and for Vale to play and compete (especially after Sat result however well we came back) shows there's some method in the madness even though for fans it feels a little slow to us. But we must applaud when we try (in fact even if a goal went in through whatever way which can happen even if we play well and we lost I could still see some progress). Hopefully chances unlike a lower league need to be taken as they can become harder, however if this performance is an indicator then it's not the creating it's the taking. Anyway, well done (personally.., and it's not going away this worry... I think we need a future proof central defender..it's just niggling because of the size of the squad but that's just personal. Anyway, it's a good sign as I finish my local cricket duties before the glamour of the midweek winter match....UTV

Thought the speed we played our passing tonight was a million miles better than the last time we were in this division.

We have better quality players now and, I have to say, a top quality Manager.

Finally, just how fantastic is this retro strip?  Looks beautiful.

His foot rolled over the top of the ball before connecting with Tolaj. Not a full on studs  up , but by the letter of the law it’s a sending off. No doubt about that. The liner should have been tapping his back pocket and  telling the ( atrocious) ref “ Red Red” , so when the ref came over , his job was done .
Neither one had the balls  to do it.  He should have calmed Clark down first, with the red card in his hand , telling him that the Cardiff player was gone.  That would have ended it right there. Send him off and done.  No yellow for Clark. But no , he lost control of the game at the kick off , and  let the clown on the Railway side dictate to him.
Where do they get them?

Got to be happy with that performance. The intensity was magnificent from start to finish and each player gave there all.

Mitch, Tolaj, Ojo, and Croasdale were the standouts for me but they all did well. The officials were shocking though and we had a good goal disallowed and that tackle on Tolaj was a red all day long and worse than Headley's tackle on Saturday. Keep this up Vale and we will be fine this season.
