1st Half and 2nd half chalk and cheese, puzzled by the starting 11 but eventually got the team to win the game on the pitch in the 2nd half.

Mitch Clarke was outstanding for the whole 90 mins as he was at Donny when on the pitch, Headley superb, the first 3 subs changed the game, Tom Sang looked really neat and aware. 

Poor first half, but got the result in the end. MOM for me was Headley, with good performances from Clark and Tolaj also.

Definitely need Hall or Henneghan back next week just to give us some height at the back, we looked so vulnerable from corners and freekicks

The player sent off was also one of the two sent off at Newport. Obviously not a fan of that ref, same as the 6000 vale fans today.

Loud boos at halftime, thoroughly deserved. Fans showed that 1st half effort and performance is unacceptable.

No doubt there were very stern words in the dressing room.

Fans always get behind and make a lot of noise for players when they show the application like today’s 2nd half.

The team performance concerns me - first half, some players simply didn't step up and do their jobs.

The balance of the starting team concerns me - it clearly left big gaps in midfield which Newport exploited first half.

Both must improve.

What was incorrect in the quoted ST post was -

1. The viciousness of the language he uses - these are not characters in a video game he slags off, they are human beings

2. The absurd absolutism he deploys -
"Never do I ever want to see Sam Hart, Antwoine Hackford or Jason Lowe wear a Vale shirt again"

Sam Hart has had some excellent games for Vale, even though he was well below par today

Antwoine Hackford is a talented young player who has made a total of 31 competitive appearances, many of them for part of games, and who is still very much at the developmental stage of his career

Jason Lowe, it is fair to say, has had a mixed standard of performances this season, but was arguably MOTM in our previous fixture against Doncaster

None of this justifies the sort of vicious language and sweeping dismissals which ST regularly deploys.

I suppose that what makes L2 games more interesting than PL. There’s always a chance if you don’t give up. Crap defending this two goals but at least heads didn’t drop and changes were effective. 
Headley can take a proper corner which is a plus..Quite happy until Barl and Ken came on P&G

has it ever occurred ti Ken that either the Baby or Mrs Ripley may be poorly.?

Talk about a game of emotions. Thought attacking wise excellent, defensively we were all over the show.

As glad as I was to see Lowe go off, just who on earth does Harper think he is at times, lazy nonchalant half arsed flicks nearly costing us on a couple of occasions. Didn't impress me at all. 

Very entertaining match and whilst you could argue a lot of the Newport free kicks were correct, they weren't half soft and the ref couldn't wait to give them. 

Final mention for that save from their keeper off Smiths header, simply outstanding. 

I get the whole Hackford is inexperienced etc etc but this is a results game. Why is it up to Vale to get him experience for his parent club to benefit, possibly at the expense of our promotion? We have enough players of our own to do this. Send him back imo. Let someone else develop him as I just don’t think he’s the best man for the job at the moment.

Or bring him on late in the 2nd half when we have the game won.  Got to be something in the contract for him to start or he gives good reach arounds.

Newport have beaten Mk, and drawn with both Notts County and Wimbledon in the last few weeks. Good result, poor first half, very good second half.
