Port Vale v Newport Co match thread - 18th Jan

Featured Replies

We definitely in the cold light of day need to do something about our defending on set pieces. It’s too frequent to just be a coincidence. I’m not sure what the answer is other than Moore needs to start beasting those players who lose their man or their first recourse is to go looking for a soft foul from the ref and then look surprised when nothing is given.

With that said the energy second half was exactly what you want. Clark and John had a nice budding partnership on that right side. I think adding Byers to that midfield will be a big help hopefully starting next Saturday.

Tolaj and Stockley up front. This has to be the way forward. When Stockley came on 2nd half he marmalised their defence. Quick upshout for Sang. He was cool, calm and solid in replacing the awful Hart. Mystifying 1st half selection again from Moore but at least he got the 2nd half right. What a difference it makes when we play 2 up front and DON'T sit back to attempt to defend. Going to be a long run in but we're there and fighting. UTV.

Newport have beaten Mk, and drawn with both Notts County and Wimbledon in the last few weeks. Good result, poor first half, very good second half.

Newport are 5th bottom and lost 4 in a row. Can we stop making out we’re playing Barca every week. They were <ovf censored>

Dreadful side. They were there for a 4 or 5 goal thrashing.

Hackford off.
Never wear the shirt again and send him back to his parent club.

I would rather have Ryan Loft than that clown.

Take that back, I'd rather just put a cone out than have loft back at least there a chance of the ball rebounding in off the cone 😁

I don’t even think we were that bad first half. Loads of good chances. Garrity fluffed two. Hackford fluffed two. A few lovely passing moves.

Was better intensity second half but found the booing and melodrama all a bit weird. We were the better side throughout with the better chances all game.

Tidy the set pieces up and we can get back to being a very strong side.

We were dreadful in the first half.

Disagree. Hackford had two great chances, and did Garrity. Think Headley had one cutting in which was saved.

Set-pieces were a shambles. We weren’t at our best. But I don’t think you create that many chances and can be labelled dreadful and get relentlessly booed by morons.

Either dreadful or brilliant are we.

Saw one lad go from booing to OH WHEN THE WHIIIIIIITES GO MARCHING INNNNNNNNN within about 3 minutes.

We were weak in midfield and defensively dreadful in the first half.

In attack, we actually had enough chances to have gone in ahead at half-time.

Must've been watching a different game than most on here. Thought Newport played some excellent football first half with Kamwa? looking a right handful. To be fair we did allow Newport to play. Second half we pressed and Clark and John burst into space and Tolaj and Stockley were very good. Ref was as clueless as Moore!! To give Moore credit for "changing it" is daft. Stevie Wonder could see what was needed.

The first half was filled with mistakes, little effort, and mass confusion as to who should be where.

It was utterly dreadful.
And let’s not make out as the 2nd half was superb. We have played one of the most dreadful teams in league football today and scraped over the line.

With the budget we have and the players we have, Darren Moore has decided to make this season look like we’re walking through treacle.

The decent teams will destroy us in the upcoming months unless the clown in charge of this football club either <ovf censored> off or stops putting names in a hat for his team selection.

Even if we do go up Darren Moore can do one.
I now understand why he wasn’t loved by fans of his other clubs.

The team selections are now beyond a joke. Too much thought going into the opposition. Way too much.
Just put your best 11 out and go and win the game. It’s not rocket science.

Beating Newport 3-2, having been behind twice, at home, isn’t the springboard for success.

I fully expected this afternoon to be a walk in the park. They were utterly dreadful. We were marginally better.

Just back....

First 45 minutes we looked like a mid table team void of ideas.

The introduction  of Sang, Harper and Stockley suddenly made us look like a top 7 outfit, however I thought Newport bringing Hudlin on helped us more than them !

Mitch C was the clear man of the match.

Edit: Top 3 outfit!
