Port Vale v Newport Co match thread - 18th Jan

Featured Replies

I honestly think a decent side put 6 or 7 past that lot today. They were awful & just had the nippy lad out wide.

We were poor for 75% of the game & have scraped a win against a poor side.

Ref was the same guy who reffed the away game, clearly out to level things up from minute 1. Bloke was an absolute shower.

Headley Motm for me, by a distance, & thought Sang did well when he came on. On we go, but we need to be much much better than that.

Moore will always be someone who will try to win games in the second half. It's hard to get used to, and I feel it only worked today because they are such a poor side. You could count how many times we start games really on the front foot under him on one hand, regardless of who we are playing.

We all know we have the players and talent in the squad to win games convincingly. It seems Darren doesn't, for whatever reason.

Yes, but what you have to go through when you’re a Vale supporter. There was no need for that selection or that first half - all totally foreseeable and completely avoidable. It’s a good job this league is such rubbish but well done to those lads on the pitch who, in the end, managed to get the job done.

We needed these three points given the congestion at the top but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to DM’s style of management.

Just hope that, for our and Carol’s sake, it pays off.

Good win but I’m absolutely sick of Moore. I expect  5-6 changes again for the next game and it isn’t working.

Yeh I’m obviously pleased with the win but I just can’t warm to this manager.
He keeps saying we learn from performances but do we ?

He never seems to start with the right team, it’s always the changes that we have to rely on, no consistency with his team selections and tactics.

I reckon we'll win this game.

Two appalling howlers for their goals, but we've had chances to score twice as many.

Posted at 1-2 down at half-time.

I well understand all of the frustrations after a very poor first half showing.

But, even if the lads aren't performing, we can still play our part well as fans by willing them on and by reserving most of the (deserved) criticism until after the final whistle.

I’ve backed the manager all season until the Grimsby defeat so how do you work that one out? He’s mixed it up since going more attacking with two strikers on the pitch, the results since don’t lie. So yes, I’m back on side. Enjoy the win 😉

I'll keep your Moore Out onesie nice and clean for when we next lose!

Why is it we have to be happy with Moore, his crap tactics and team selections just because we won??
We looked dreadful in the first half against a poor Newport team bang out of form. This is a common occurrence with Moore and while the 3 points is gratefully received he isn’t getting the most of his squad despite all the changes every week.

Well that was a game of two halves. You play your better players and you're much better. Who would have thought it?

3 points and hopefully the start of a run. But for the love of God, stop picking Jason Lowe and starting a game with 10 men, and stop playing Hackford over much better footballers.

Dunner worry Lowe will probably be back in the starting 11 next home fixture

You can’t wait till we next lose you weird specimen

If anything today has just made more convinced he isn’t the manager for us. You can’t set up like that at any level and home. It’s a ridiculous team selection that had us losing against possibly the worst side I’ve seen this season. Only once he switched to some normality in the 2nd did we dominate and that was predictable as we have far better players. At half time I expected us to win and we did but that 11 was baffling.

How do you work that one out princess? Because I don't like Darren Moore? Surely if I want us to lose I'd be enjoying that spell of 1 win in about 11 not losing my mind over his shocking tactics. You can want your team to succeed whilst also thinking the bloke in charge is a huge fraud. Hopefully the league is that bad we'll scrape promotion. Anyway, enjoy your Saturday evening before you change your mind again!

In conclusion….

Never do I ever want to see Sam Hart, Antwoine Hackford or Jason Lowe wear a Vale shirt again. The first two put in two disgusting performances and the latter has no legs.

The manager wants a rocket up his arse from Carol.
Either shape up or <ovf censored> off because your team selections are beyond a joke now.

And finally Tom Sang appreciation post.
He’s my player of the season so far and my man of the match today.

Darren Moore. Shape up or <ovf censored> off you useless clown.

Brutal assessment , but spot on .

I’m not going to come on here and be negative after winning 3 points.

I’ll happily moan when we lose games.

I agree, the first half was extremely frustrating. I wouldn’t have started Hart, Lowe or Hackford.

However, the second half was much, much better and we got the win.

It’s quite refreshing to be able to post on here after winning a game from coming from behind. We rarely do that.
