Is Mickey Adams an asset for the club

Some on here may think not, but for me he is. How many players say the reason for coming to the mighty whites (HOPEFULLY STILL PLAYING IN WHITE this season) is because of Adams. He must have a good rapour with the players and knows what needs to be said .If he was'nt here not many players would look at the Vale as a team to sign for, but because he is seems to sway them . Good luck Mickey for the season Make us all proud

What a load of crap. There are many, many players dropping out of the game each season, they are desperate for clubs - so let's shelve this "no-one would sign for us if it wasn't for precious Micky" ****. If we were actually signing high-calibre players then maybe I could accept this to some degree, but even so, ultimately the players you sign reflect the financial packages you offer.

Some of you seem to think Port Vale exist in some kind of bizarre microcosm where football does not operate as normal. Well we don't, we're a professional football club that any amount of unattached players would be desperate to sign for.

As for the original question, I don't think Adams is an asset to the club. There are far worse managers, but I'd actually say that we're not getting the managerial quality that would match the money we pay him.

Players come to us for the money usually. Though other factors such as club size and location will play a part, its 95% salary and contract length. If it was Adams that people came here for, why did Griff, rigg and rico leave? He will be an asset when he takes us up this year.

He'll be judged by me at the end of next season. I don't think it will be automatic promotion for us, as Rotherham, Fleetwood & Chesterfield are looking strong. Bradford have bought well, think they'll do well next season along with Southend, Rovers & Northampton. I've got us down for around 5th spot, then hopefully the playoff final at Wembley. If Adams can get us to the playoffs i think i might be willing to give him another season, anything less then i'd have to seriously think whether Adams really is the man to take us forward. It's all guess work from me though, we'll have to wait & see i suppose.

Yes he is an asset. Experienced, knows many people in football, has has an effective network and held the club together last season. People may not agree with his methods but if he hadn't gone to Sheff U or been able to add to the squad last season we may be in League 1 now.
