If Curtis is fit he’s one of the first names on the team sheet for me and would get the nod over Benicio, plus I don’t think Edward’s will be a starter just yet.

I can see both Edwards and BBB starting the Daffy Duck cup game next week(is it) along with hopefully stockley and Byers(for a bit of game time)

I think it's all down to the system we play. I'm amazed at the amount of signings but 2 haven't featured(Stockley,Byers),Chizzy,Smith and Clark are out, plus Jones,Lowe and Grant are still here. There are lots of youngsters(Paton,BBB,Edwards,John) who are unproven at this level and my concern is that fans are going overboard after only 1 league game. Shorrock,Plant and Dipepa are all in the first team squad,so for me,it has to be the signings of  Hall,Croasdale,Heneghan and Curtis who are the spine of the team and push us on.

I'm delighted Garrity is captain and if they all follow his lead then the fans know the team will give everything. I just wonder how Moore sets the team up...

Re players leaving, whilst the likes of Chislett and Garrity are clearly ones we would want to keep they are also attractive targets for other clubs for exactly the same reason.

With both out of contract next summer it becomes a bit of a tightrope in terms of whether the club is able to retain them or not.

Ultimately, as with any player at this level, everyone has their price.

I still think that Garrity will sign a new contract,I dont know why i just do but as for Chislett who knows,I would like him to stay but we have plenty of options now if he doesn't

He signed a contract extension in November. Might not have paid a fee but there would have been some sort of compensation

Have you seen this anywhere? because all i can find is that he signed his last deal in 2022 which took him to 2025

They may of let him come on a free with a big sell on clause maybe

I wouldn't have thought Chislett would be doing the Smash on Trent promo vid if he was beggaring off anywhere?

Why not?

I think he will stay but do not over think players doing videos or being part of a kit launch etc that this means they are not going anyway

Think about it! If he was in negiotiations with another club or an offer had come in he wouldn't be the player to send along to promote a local business/sponsor would he!? It's common sense and wouldn't look good, particularly to younger fans who have favourite players, if he ended up with another clubs scarf above his head 2 days later.   Send one of the other lads who's just signed(or likes a burger!)😁

I agree if he'd done it 2 or 3 weeks ago that's different and of course stranger things have happened but it's not particularly good PR from Vale if he was now to leave.

I still think we will bring in another defender yet but i would say we are done... unless there is a lot of movement on deadline day as he will still want cover for players

only my opinion of course

What a squad of players we have. Christ. I've never seen a better squad. Almost embarrassing. Gotta be winning this league and the next. Some serious coin been spent on this. Thank you Carol and Kevin. Over too you Daz lad.

Weren't you ripping into them 24 hours ago? More faces than a town hall clock! [emoji23]

Yeah I’ve seen the same, I misread it & thought it was November last year not 2022 mate

Honestly, you are over thinking it a little bit too much.

I would have thought that making a video etc is weeks in the planning. He could have made it 3 weeks ago and a bid come in for him last week.

Kai Havertz was part of the Chelsea kit launch last year and then suddenly got sold to Arsenal.

Macauley Longstaff was made captain of Notts County in the summer and within less than a month got sold to Millwall.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

My guess would be no fee but there is a contract extension clause and a significant percentage as a sell on clause.  I suspect Southampton don't rate him as highly as Brighton do with the loan winger. We wouldn't pay a fee upfront for a player we only have for one year.

There’s a lot to stay at port vale for at the minute for Chizzy , club moving forward on the field being backed by great owners

Club wanting promotion and pushing on
If he went to a struggling league 1 club is he going to e joy it ?

I don't get the Chislett rumours. I do think it's people seeing he's absent, ignoring Moore saying it's due to injury, putting two and two together and making five. I personally think Chislett would be starting (possibly on the right of a front three) if he was fit right now. At the very least, if he was fit I would think he'd be on the bench.

However, I personally thought it was interesting that Dan Jones didn't even make the (rejigged) squad for the Barrow game. I genuinely don't know if he is on his way but surely he's got a reasonable idea of where he stands in the pecking order right now. If he wants regular football it may be in his interests to get a move or loan somewhere else.

Jones probably injured 🤣

Well, he will know all about that from last season!
