Summer transfer rumours and speculation

According to Alan Nixon we are signing Diamond Edwards on loan from Southampton. Interesting move after bringing in BBB.

BBB's main position is LW.

All of Curtis, BBB, Plant and Paton can play both sides according to transfermarket, which is great strength in depth.

BBB on the left and Edwards on the right could be the pace we've been coveting all pre-season. Supposedly Edwards can play as a #10 through the middle too.

I totally agree and being honest I don’t think our squad is strong enough to be selling assets at this stage before a window shuts.

Personally for league 2 I think the squad is more than strong enough. I wouldn’t sell Chislett though, just think our squad is excellent.

I still think 2/3 will leave

No way we would get 1.5m for him. If we got 500k I'd snap there hands off...i like him a lot but hes in the last year of his deal and at 26, he isn't young. I don't want to sell him, but hes not a 1.5m player, no where near.

26 isn’t old either it’s probably the perfect age for a footballer to be fair. Agreed he’s not worth anywhere near 1.5 mill 😂 without doubt our most creative player though & for that alone I wouldn’t take anything less than 500k. Really hope Chizzy isn’t going anywhere to be honest

I thought we’d opted for BBB over Edwards, so I’m fairly surprised at this signing to be honest. I wouldn’t be shocked to see Chislett go now. As much  as I’d want him to stay, surely we can’t be turning down a decent offer? I’d imagine Chislett would be a player the vast majority of League One sides wouldn’t mind in their squad.

We dont want to hear it but it has to be said that I will be surprised if we dont get bids in for Garrity before the end of the month,it's if we can fend them off but we have to be fair to the lad as well,a player who has never given less than 100% for the Vale.

I can't see Garritty leaving. Would he have been given the captaincy if there was any chance he would want out?

Given someone the captaincy does not mean it guarantees them staying.

Notts County made Macauley Longstaff Captain and then sold him 3 weeks later

I'm not sure Moore would have described Chislett's injury if he was planning for him to go? He'd have come out with something like he did with Iacoviti around building his fitness.  Who knows though

Chislett would be mad to go to Mansfield.
The grass isn’t always greener.
He’s at a club with a clear exciting project and fans that love him.

I can’t see anything other than a relegation dogfight for Mansfield.

It could potentially stagnate his career. He’s better than that.

You’re right BJ there’s always an offer that can’t be refused, irrespective of what a club or player say or do.

Staying in league 2 yes, but the squad, with expensive signings like Byers is geared towards an immediate league 1 return. If we don’t get promotion, those players will soon drain our funds in a league that doesn’t bring in the same money league 1 does.

Plus, you saw the sort of football we can expect to watch on Saturday, dreary, uninspiring stuff, playing rubbish teams like Salford. As long as we win I won’t mind, but another 3/4 years of that, I’ll be fed up by then, no matter how good we are, you want to watch two quality, competitive sides.

People have been talking about the Crown Jewels going all summer. It won’t happen. They are needed and wanted. Maybe Ojo might get sold on, but it is fairly clear that Carol was as annoyed at relegation as most of us were.

Try the Premier League then.

I hope the rumour is hogwash too but if Chislett was sold (not necessarily to Mansfield) I’d hope we’d have a number of experienced potential candidates lined up to replace him like when we replaced McCarthy with Ainsworth. I’d be disappointed if an unproven loanee was being considered to replace one of our main creative players if Chizzy was to leave.

I think too much has been made out of the football on Saturday.

It’s the opening game of the season following a relegation season, almost a brand new 11 and missing our 2 most creative players, it was never going to be pretty. Salford were poor on the day but that was because of our setup out of possession.

We will be much much better football played as the lads get used to playing with each other more and build partnerships.

I’d imagine that work would be going on right now if an offer for Chislett has come in. Hes a good player but he’s replaceable and especially for the right money.
