That article is from May when he was released.

How on earth have we pulled this one off.

Brilliant.

I wonder what sort of wage hes on with the listed club's interested in him on that article and the fact he was a big part of Wednesdays promotion team i cant see him dropping to league 2 for anything less than 5-10k a week

Think primarily you have to put it down to the Darren Moore factor. The money is obviously attractive too but even so if even one or two of the clubs listed is correct they could easily outbid us you’d think. Guess it doesn’t hurt with us getting a lot of our prime targets in early other ones can see the direction things are travelling and maybe want to get on board more now.

Big D’s at the wheel 👌🏻

We have certainly signed a good few quality players. I think the attitude of the relegated team must be a major factor! We desperately needed some steel and fight! DM obviously saw that and has acted accordingly. I have no doubt a few have been told to look elsewhere.

Other clubs will have put a value on the players we have signed. The Darren Moore factor will only have come into play if we have broadly met those financial offers. Probably also relevant that we have offered 3 year deals to several. That will have been relevant to someone like Curtis. He had an offer on the table from Portsmouth,  they low balled the offer when he got injured. He then went 6 months without pay before signing for AFC Wimbledon.  Portsmouth had offered to renegotiate the lower offer on the table once he'd proved his fitness but he still chose to walk away. It's still quite a big commitment for players such as Curtis and Byers to commit to what is generally considered their peak years of their careers to league 2 Port Vale. When most of the signed players contracts end the bigger named players will be in their 30s and their market values will be in decline.  We will be rewarding these players very well as a consequence.

I thought we had made our signing of the transfer window when we signed Stockley. How wrong was I? In terms of excitement and how good I think they will be, I rank them as the following:

- Byers

- Tolaj

- Curtis

- Stockley

- Croasdale

- Hall

- Amos

- Hart

Being last in that last doesn't mean I think the player isn't a good signing and won't be a success.

Also it's worth remembering that hanging on to the likes of Garrity and Chislett could be as important as any signing we make this summer.

I think the signings we've made generate momentum. One of the fears at the start of the summer was how do you persuade good players to join a squad that was meekly relegated last season?

Now, it's a much more attractive proposition in - do you want to join a squad that looks like it's going places? That has made some high quality signings?

Who knows how long the Byers move was in the pipeline but I would suspect he was far more keen to join us once he saw we had Curtis, Stockley et al on the books than he would have been before they joined. Perhaps that explains why he's joined now - after he was reassured by the previous summer signings.

The exciting thing, if that's true, is what other quality players will the new signings attract?

One more quality defensive signing and some out goings, young loans and we are set? who of these players are out and out wingers because id imagine that's where a possible loan signing could be? Young defenders seem to rarely work because of the physically and the lack of proper football so i cant imagine we will loan a defender?

I'd agree and getting Curtis in early in the window was a big statement of intent.

The best thing about our transfer business is that they're all proven players on permanent deals.

Now, loans will supplement the squad.

Last year, our entire philosophy was built around 2 loan signings with a January recall clause. Madness!

And you  have to have the budget to back it up to bring in those players in. It’s the best thing we could do, go for it and make a statement with the lads we’ve added. It also gets us thinking positively before the season has even started.

Teams taking shape wonderfully .

Champions Vale never happened in my lifetime ,and to be honest you cannot be making statements like that what ive being reading left right and centre on X .

Generally bar Hart and Hall back players are still the same  so I don't go along with that however it's nice have some players in who have already achieved in higher leagues and are winners in there own right .

We mustnt run before we walk .

I know there's going be excitement let's hope that spills to making attendances much bigger but to me only when there's limited availability for home games would I say we have a team that are going places .

So my team is just one player short another CB  and if MC has injury worries yet again we have to have cover for him and if being greedy another striker.

The new season cannot come quick enough now I hope Carol's investment in all new players brings her the joy she deserves .

Down to DM now to get the players super match fit .

Welcome to all new players .

He seems to get his head on the end of corners and free kicks a fair bit more than you expect from a midfielder. Him, Stockley, Garrity, Tolaj and Hall should give us some real threat from set pieces for a change you’d hope.
