Summer transfer rumours and speculation

Adjusted for inflation, Ainworth’s fee was a modern day £5.38m.

Regarding addons, I hope we negotiate something based on goals and appearances etc rather than straight future transfer fees which may never happen. Every premier league goal Watkins scores now generates a cheque for Exeter.

I also begrudgingly accept that it’d be better for the fees to be undisclosed as the agents selling you a player knowing exactly what’s in your wallet is a bad thing.

I do wonder if that is the reason now why so many if not all deals are undisclosed but surely agents will find out anyway by just asking around

That will be where your big money is made dependant on the size of the sell on Peterborough have a good sell on with Toney so they will get a good wedge from his eventual sale this summer.

I am positive that we will have sell ons with the lads who went to Villa and Newcastle and hopefully with Ndala who is at Man City,so that is 3 future potentials there besides a Dipepa one(even potentially Walters and Shorrock)

There are very decent clauses in the Ndala deal.

Have to admit that was my fear over the Ndala deal as it would have been during Smurfs time so was expecting any clauses to basically be a new Tesla for him. Think it was in Micky Adams autobography he said he had to get involved with the Hugill deal to get the sell on put in there.

I think this is the only real way now lower league clubs can make decent money from transfers

It looks like he did his ACL in Feb 2023 and then picked up a muscular injury during the rehab, so hasn't played a single game in 15 and a half months. Indeed before that he'd only played 4 mins since the previous October, so he's only played 79 minutes in over 19 months.

A PAYP deal would be great but I'd be very nervous about a contract offer for a player who spent 14 years in the premiership, in the context of expectations regardless of factoring in his injury record.

Is it most likely this is a Moore used to be at WBA based rumour (despite the fact that they weren't there at the same time)?

Obviously we will be signing him. He has all the credentials Vale are looking for.

When did we last sign a player with a good playing and appearance record.

Sick to death of us signing crocks and not learning from the mistakes.

We have a rich owner and an even richer Vice President yet we are still shopping for crocks in Poundland!

RW and Carol combined FAILED to sign a quality goalscorer in the January window that would have ensured our safety in league 1.

I am still struggling with that.

Just out of interest does anyone know how long players have to either accept or refuse their contract offers? I am thinking more along the lines of the young lads Walters/Shorrock/Bhua and the other lad

Pretty sure Jack Shorrock signed last Autumn, maybe wrong

The Dof overruled buying a striker.. He's now gone.

As it stands we can put last season down to experience. Clean slate for all now going forward.

Existing contract expire on 30 June so you won't get paid after that.  Don't know what the situation is with the younger lads.

I don't think he did.

Dipepa and Lomax have signed pro deals. Both lasting till 2026.

However, as per the retained list announcement, the following were offered new deals at the end of the season -

Jack Shorrock, Rhys Walters, Aaron Davies (he's a goalkeeper) and Andrew Buah

I guess there's a bit of doubt over Walters given the long-winded negotiations but I personally don't think there's too much to worry about with the other three. For all we know the kids may have already agreed and are on holiday. If that's the case then the club may just be waiting for them to return so they can photo them "signing" the deal and announce it formally.

A player mentioned on here early doors was Ollie Pearce who was prolific at Worthing,I have just been reading that he has turned their contract offer down and they reckon he can easily play in League Two maybe even League One

With Martin Kelly and Jordan Rhodes rumoured, just got to be careful we don't sign too many codgers.
Why? Tonge and Pugh were the dynamic duo of league 2. With a promising youngster in Kay mopping up behind them
