Saturday has the potential to be very, very funny

As funny as that would certainly be looking at the fixtures they’re playing Colchester. A draw for Crewe seals playoffs and a draw for Colchester ensures survival. Basically the ball isn’t going to leave the centre circle.

Back to L2 prep. Ditch the Spanish holiday and have more meaningful friendlies. I feel that we have been totally unprepared for the last two seasons with stupid friendlies, I think we only played Doncaster last year that was of any use. It has been a complete shambles.

Start with 'easy' pre season friendlies and ensure that they get progressively harder.

Get 'em running round Westport again. That's what this lot need. Some hard work, not jollies in Spain.

Yes, and I hope it is ppiisssing down with rain when they do it, and hope there is plenty of dog tuurd on the path too.

Could do like in Game Of Thrones - have the running paths lined with season-ticket holders chucking turds, shouting 'Shame, Shame, Shame'!

(...but only at existing players, not at any new signings!) 😆

Tell you now, Chesterfield are going to walk this league next season.

They have a manger that would have come here last summer, that is amongst one of the the best managers outside the Championship. He's proved it and proved time & time again.

They got new owners around 12 months ago who are brothers and they are estimated to be worth £500 million.

Great manger, great wealthy owners.

I think the money alone is probably going to be the defining factor.

It won’t hurt but it hasn’t helped Forest Green who reportedly had one of the bigger budgets in League 2.  Bradford must have a decent budget but they’ve floated around mid-table for years.  It boils down to what you do with your money, however much that is.  If you believe what Flitcroft said after the debacle of the January window it’s likely we didn’t actually spend some of our available playing budget plus clearly we wasted a good chunk on 2 shot shy forwards who found goals impossible to come by.

Need to show more grit, guts and determination on the pitch next season - all have been lacking the season apart from a few players.

Pride in the shirt and 100% effort.

For that we need to recruit players who will show all those attributes.

The fact they even still have a chance of survival is quite something. Done a remarkable job 👏

Absolutely. You get a new manager in like they did with Clarke and you see some sort of improvement, albeit not enough.

We got Moore in and he managed to do worse than the previous bloke. A previous bloke who had no prior experience managing a league side.

So currently we have.

Cheltenham, Fleetwood, Vale, Carlisle.

Barrow, Bradford, Wimbledon, Walsall, Gillingham, Harrogate, Notts County, Morecambe, Tranmere, Accrington ,Newport, Swindon, Salford,Grimsby, Colchester and Chesterfield.

3 of Mk Dons,Doncaster, Crewe or Crawley.

1 of Solihull or Bromley.

It's a grim list. Good games with atmosphere pretty thin on the ground.

Notts County and Chesterfield be decent away games for Vale support.

Big big summer coming up.

If Crewe stay down and Solihull come up it is a great league in terms of local away games, shame Burton somehow stayed up or that would have added another in the mix.

That said, if we have a promotion/play off campaign its enjoyable, if we dont its not. I can't say I have enjoyed the last 18 months in a higher league so wont be a high bar to set to enjoy this more.
