Ben and Chizzy will definitely have clubs after them. Id be amazed if they were Vale players next season and I'd wish Ben all the best.

I think we may get away with keeping Chizzy, garrity no chance though and wish him all the best

Not read through all this topic but I’d be fairly confident that much of this squad would be OK at League 2 level.  No doubt we’ll lose some of our better players, maybe all.  The biggest issue is that we still need 3, maybe even 4, strikers and if we do lose Garrity & Chiz then that’s a fair few extra goals we’ve got to find on top.  Add the goals plus a bit of extra pace and power and we’ll be rayt.  Oh, and you always need a sprinkle of good luck.

I haven’t seen anything to suggest this squad could compete at that level. Take Garrity and Chizzy out and it’s a non league side for certain. Mass clear out required, again.

The difference between the 2 divisions is pretty wide overall.  For example Smith has a promotion from League 2 on his CV which would suggest he’s a decent player at that level. The youngsters, those we manage to keep, will look better in League 2.  A few of the outfield players plus Ripley will be decent.  I honestly believe that the nucleus is there.  Definitely no need for a mass clearout but whatever happens any new additions have got to be established players if we’re to do well.

Ah well, that was a crap season for loads of reasons, relegation obviously being the main one. So my sporting interests will switch to Lurcher racing where my daft dog has a better chance of winning, than Vale have of winning a match.

However I think there are a few positives to be had from all of this. First, Flitcroft has gone. I don't think he was ever a good influence at Vale Park. Carol has now seen the realities of football club ownership. That nothing ever goes to plan. Football is never any where near an exact science. And no amount of money and grand plans can ever ensure success. Also disaster is always around the corner. This I believe will make her a better owner with a better insight into football. On the playing side, we do have the prospect of some good youngsters coming through, which we have not had for a number of years. I believe that we will have the funding for a good squad next year. Darren Moore at least seems to have the flexibility to change formations when needed. Whether he will be the man to lead us out of league 2 remains to be seen. I do feel more confident of better times this relegation than others.

Would be nice though to have a season where relegation isn't an issue

I've got huge reservation about next year.

1) A bloated squad full of national league players who have another year left on their contract.

2) A manager who's shown very little in the time he's been here being given total control over football operations (if my understanding of the wording in carols statement is correct).

3) An owner who has openly admitted she knows nothing about football operations and doesn't seem to learn from mistakes.

Hopefully we'll have a decent budget for that level, but little room to maneuver given the number of awful players tethered to us for another year. We were already shopping in random markets like new Zealand because we can't afford to keep up with top end league 2 teams (in flickwanks own words) so God knows where Moore is going to be looking for players in the summer.

Luckily with Mansfield, Wrexham and Stockport going up, L2 looks pretty weak. That being said, I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if we even make the playoffs next year.

We really need to sign a core of battle hardened L2 players this summer.

We can't afford another gamble of signing injury prone crocks, kids and rejects.

I want to see us signing players, and opposition fans being gutted we've nicked them.

First target I'd be after is Will Evans from Newport.

league two will make for some grim grounds to be visiting…. Wimbledon, Morecambe, Harrogate, Walsall, gillingham, Newport, Swindon, Salford, Grimsby, Colchester, crawley, barrow, Carlisle. FFS.

It's a cesspit. But we deserve to be there.

Flipping it around, all we need is some sensible recruitment and there is no reason we can't hit the top 3.

Wrexham, Mansfield, Stockport gone. Hopefully MK Dons can go up to get rid of them too, and there really isn't anything to fear.

Agreed. I’m sure other clubs will have the same idea that this league is probably not as strong with those clubs gone and will go for it too. Chuck some money at the right players and we can get back.

Just some some players with a bit of backbone would be a start or at least a captain who can take control once things start falling apart on the pitch.

As soon as the opposition get a goal back mid/late in the second half we crumble. Players go missing, and the opposition dominate. It’s so predictable. I don’t even want to look at how many points we lost from winning/drawing positions this season.

If they take the p i double Sandra with offers then they can whistle. I’d rather a mopey pair who are cheat codes in L2 than sell them for peanuts that can barely by the train fare for a replacement. Learn from Forrester. Sell anyone else to get them out, but nobody would want anyone else for a fee.
