League 2 preparation

The real annoying thing about the situation is last season we scraped by just! Absolutely no lessons were learned and we just blundered on. We have never been competitive in league one! I think with the best will in the world we are going to be in league two for a while.

Ripley, Clark ( if he can stay fit ), Cass, Smith, Yak, Sang, Plant, Shorrock, Lomax, Brazier, Walters, Dipepa, Garrity & Chislet would be my retained list. The rest can go for me, meaning we would need at least 10 bodies through the door which I can’t see happening.

You cant get rid of them all, the costs are too high but have to remember we are dropping a level so have to work out who would do us a decent job in League Two...

Just because they've not done well in L1 doesn't mean they cant be an asset in L2 so that is what we need to establish.

Imagine we will release all the out of contracts (as much as I would keep Wilson) and so leaves us with Dipepa (if not sold who will be a low wage) and Loft so room for 2 strikers which we need to improve on.

Goalkeeper I would probably offer Leutwiller a deal and the two we have are fine.

Midfield I would move heaven and earth to try and keep Garrity and Chislett, Ojo will likely want out but would be stand out in L2, Walters looks off, so room to bring a couple in, need some wide men.

Defence is the big problem though, Smith is decent L2, would you get more from Debrah at a lower level and Yak? try and move Jones on but that be harder as he is injured a lot, room to bring a could in and we need a right and left back (or wing back).

I would imagine we will try and move on:

Sang (all be it maybe decent L2?)

Jones

Lowe

Loft 

 

That leaves us room for around 9 or 10 permanents if Cass, Uche, Walters, Wilson, Massey move on plus your usual 3-4 loan players.

Even if we cant move on the 4 under contract we'd have room for 5-6 plus 3-4 Loan players so we can still improve the squad.

Ripley needs more competition for me & if he was to ever get injured I wouldn’t feel comfortable with Leutweiler in the sticks for too long. Get a half decent youngster in to push Connor. As for Willo we can’t keep paying his wages for him to spend half the season in the treatment room. Unfortunately he’s made of glass & needs to moved on for good this time

Ripley won’t stay. He’ll be jumping ship like an albatross to the next league one club to be relegated next season 🤣

I won’t be too fussed if he went to be honest. Good shot stopper but the rest of his game is average

The whole squad is <ovf censored> after 60 mins to be fair 😂 I’d be tempted give him a go on in league 2 in his natural position. I wouldn’t be keeping him as a wing back

When he feels like it? Attitude stinks, if clubs want him then use the cash to get someone else in who cares. Technically he’d be a great player at that level but he’s shown in the past couple of months what sort of character he is. We don’t need that pal. It’s clear he doesn’t want to be here. Talk of fitness! That's been one of our biggest problems. We must be the worst team in the league for fitness. Add to that the long term injuries its ridiculous.

That's the impression I get. He's nowhere near the same player since he came back
