PVFC Meet delegation of fans regarding current concerns

No, it certainly wasn't. Again, she didn't know who was coming until just before.

Why do people make stuff up about that meeting when they know bugger all about it, Doha?  It’s infuriating. I should have taken a photograph of everyone there but PA would probably have accused us of having it photoshopped by the Palace.

I suggested nothing of the sort. The people in that meeting were all known to each other from previous campaigns against owners at Vale. We fought against the self interest of V2001 and the disgraceful ownership of Norman Smuthwaite.  In this case we had no issue with the owners, indeed we have huge respect for them. We simply wanted to convey the feelings of the fan base about the current situation on the pitch and who should take responsibility for our failings. We also raised a number of other issues about the disappointing fan experience on matchdays. I have huge trust in all the people who were at that meeting and I have to admit to being seriously pissed off with the negative response of a number of posters to what we were trying to do. Shouting at the internet achieves nothing. Face to face discussion may just achieve something. Please feel free to organise your own meeting and invited a cross section of 8 to 80 year olds to attend.

Surely she already knew the 'feelings of the fan base' and the 'disappointing fan experience on match days.' She goes to matches, she sees the crowd reaction to inept performances and hears the boos. She goes on the internet and knows the feelings of fans.  Why does this have to be pointed out to her, she already knows! You might as well  have asked her if she knew games kicked off at 3.00pm on a Saturday.

Why not ask her pertinent questions such as - why does she continue to employ DF?  Why hasn't the club signed a striker? Can't she see what is happening week after week on the pitch and if she can, why doesn't she do something about it? How long will she continue to employ DF? Is she considering selling the club? Why has it taken so long to repair the toilets?

I had no clue what the numbers at the beginning and end even meant. Still it’s also worth noting that recruiting isn’t just an individual thing. It’s a group of players that you’re assembling. A collective. At the moment we are so far from looking like a team that’s it’s unreal. We’re more like a collective shambles. What flitcroft has done since the promotion season is indefensible

One things for sure. I can see with my own eyes that we’ve built a squad with hardly any goals in it, just looking at individual players stats tells you that. So what were our recruitment team seeing? We’ve decided to play a wingback system and we amazingly have no wingbacks. We have no strikers when we were drastically short of them in January and still are. We’ve tried to go to a back 4 and we have no fullbacks. Also we have that intangible thing of having no characters on the pitch and seemingly no togetherness. We had that in abundance 2 years ago when we went up. It’s been slowly dismantled.

But overall just look at our performances and league position. We are terrible. There’s no dressing up how bad the recruitment has been since promotion.  We were hearing rumours sneaking out of the club about flitcrofts “negotiation tactics” at the end of the promotion season when players were leaving or offered poor deals. It’s snowballed since then to the position we’re in now where his free rein has seen us have the squad stripped of characters and leaders to become an unbalanced mess with no one who we can feel connected to or invested in. He has to go. No ifs or buts.

Very well put!

All those questions were asked. Some were not answered.

I can’t believe you think we didn’t ask “pertinent questions”. Have you read Bede’s account of the meeting?  In order:

Because she thinks he is doing a good job despite evidence to the contrary.
On deadline day the guy they had lined up wasn’t allowed to leave because his parent club hadn’t got the replacement. They had agreed a deal with an out of contract player and were gazumped.
She didn’t answer.
No she isn’t.
Because rebuilding the whole block means shutting access to the Paddock and moving the fans. Didn’t want to do that in the season.
Hope this helps.

You say Carol should know the feeling of the fanbase so there is no point in telling her. You then ask numerous questions:

Why does she continue to employ DF?

- See Carol's letter

Why hasn't the club signed a striker?

- Listen to Flitcroft's podcast.

Can't she see what is happening on the pitch?

- You're asking this despite saying she clearly knows how the fanbase feel about all the issues raised.

How long will she employ Flitcroft?

- Jean said Carol didn't answer this question.

Is she considering selling the club?

- See the immediate official response to idle speculation from national newspapers about Robbie buying the club.

Why is it taking so long to repair the toilets?

- I think it was Matt Hancock that answered this question some time ago.

Your post implies that both Carol and the fans know everything that's going on at the club and how each party feels about every issue, so there is no point in Carol meeting with fans. Yet clearly from the questions you asked you at least don't know Carol's perspective on things, despite the letter and the podcast and various announcements and messages. Is it so hard to believe that Carol wasn't or isn't fully aware of the fan's perspective of various issues?

Spot on. People love asking the same questions over and over, when most have been answered to a large degree by both Carol and DF, simply because they don't like the answers given as it doesn't suit their rhetoric or agenda

Hmm.

Actually, I think they keep mentioning these issues because every week the results continue to disappoint and we are staring relegation in the face...

But they've been answered. Asking again and again won't change the answers nor the situation. That's the point.
