Kennedy would be an awful appointment. I wouldn't want him even if we were already in League Two. If those at the top have any sort of sense at the club it has to be Moore or Ainsworth. Show a bit of ambition and you'll get plenty of fans back on side and back through the turnstiles. We're all football fans. We're all fickle, just some more than others. Things can swing quickly in football.

Kennedy has played for and coached at top clubs. Our last manager can't claim that and nor could Clarke really. A bit unfair as he has gained promotions.
So his management journey could be well poised with Port Vale looking just right for him.

Comparing Kennedy too Clarke is like comparing a race horse to a Shetland. One had various success stories and promotions on his CV when he came to us, the other has been a failure everywhere he's been.

I do think he will be our new manager as he has both of the key ingredients required, that being he'll be cheap and not having a lot of sway to override our Director of Failure

A lot of people seem to have a clear understanding of how much sway one manager will have over another and everyone in footballs opinion of working under Flitcroft.
Crosby clearly got the job due to some success while DC was away and having the respect of the players not just because he was a nodding dog to DF or just because he was cheap (who knows what we paid him anyway?)

There are no free hits in our situation. Every game is now a cup final.

Tomorrow is a tough one but on any given day any side in this league can beat any other.

It absolutely is a free hit, (which doesn't mean let’s go there and lose). When the club (and us) look at the fixtures and pencil in what we think may happen no one was ever expecting us to go there and win, which gives us the chance to play with a bit more freedom. So if we do get something then great, it’s a very welcome bonus. If we don’t, then losing there doesn’t define our season, but the games against the teams around us do.

So you know the manager they announce, ain't going be any in the betting you do not know that don't you.

I'd love Moore mesen but all these managers who keep costing us money are doing my head in .

I've been watching 32 years must be on me 32nd and that's with Rudgie here for years .

How about the players win some games then the next one can last longer .

What's so daft about all this is hardly anyone wanted DC out should have just put him on gardening leave when the players lost at Accrington 12 months on history repeats itself with Crosby

It's like brookside Dramarama

All these managers that keep costing us money? Please elaborate mate because I’ve been going Vale for 25 years & we’ve had some awful ones in the dugout in that time who I can’t imagine were on much money to be honest. The only successful ones have been Rudge, Micky Adams, Brian Horton ( won a trophy ) & Darrell Clarke. Who all had some some of decent pedigree, reputation or had success at Vale. Then we’ve had the likes of Sinnott, Brown, Gannon, Bruno, Dean Glover, Danny Pugh & Aspin to name a few who all were the safe or easy option & massive failures. I thought John Askey did ok in stages but obviously the wheels fell off at the end but the outcome shows clearly that getting a manager in who’s got some pedigree or had success beforehand compared to the less experienced or easy option is a no brainer. Regardless who is in charge it’s going cost summit but relegation will cost a fair bit too so I’m hoping there’s cash there that Carol is willing to spend to be honest mate

Horton successful? Am I reading this correctly. He only won it after relegating us. He was awful. He had half a good season in five years.

I did stick in brackets he won us some silverware that’s the only reason I said Horton.

His long work in youth team football at big clubs including Man City is highly compatible with Port Vale. Port Vale will have to pay an attractive and competitive salary. Clearly with his background he could easily go back to coaching at the youth team level which will pay well and also compete for other manager jobs.

Although I have no adverse thoughts on Darren Moore, I think the fact he has managed at Championship level clubs makes him less compatible to Port Vale than Kennedy. The question of why come to Port Vale needs a convincing answer.

If we lose by 10 though it would make us a less appealing prospect for a new manager

There's 92 management jobs available across the 4 divisions of English league football. There's a hell of a lot more managers than there are jobs available. DM is out of work and his reputation has been knocked by his time at Huddersfield. He needs a job, we have a vacancy, and he's not going to get a PL job. There's plenty of argument to say why he would come.

Micky Adams had managed in the Champ and Premier League. I think Moore’s champ experience makes him more compatible.

The reason he would come is because despite all the recent issues, he’d arrive with the backing of fans and owners.

I feel the biggest problem with the higher profile manager is that they tend to have their own entourage of backroom staff and preferred assistant which is where the costs may prove too much.
