There is a lot more to it. Can you think of any other manager who would have been willing to work without a striker, left wing back and numerous other deficiencies within the squad. It was/ is poor agreed but there is alot more to it.

Every manager as at the end of the day it’s their job. AC could have walked had he wanted and if anything should be thanking vale for giving him the job when he didn’t deserve it. Both massively at fault imo

He has strikers 3 of them they just don’t score many and for some parts of the season he didn’t play any

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again he was always getting the transfer window then losing his best 2 players obviously didn’t help

Saturdays result left them with no choice

They give him plenty of time

As others have said, we all saw this coming. The appointment of Crosby set the tone for us being too nice, which has followed on all season.

When Clarke was relieved we had the opportunity go and appointment someone who could take us on. We weren’t in the position to take a risk on an assistant manager with barely any managerial experience.

Instead of building momentum and a feel good factor around the club after promotion, we’ve sucked the life out of most supporters.

Whether that’s Carol’s or Flitcroft’s fault I have no idea. At the end of the day, it’s Carol’s money and Crosby was her only choice. It was a cheap and naive choice.

I’m just tired of this club being full of drama every season. We should be a comfortable mid table League One club, looking to push on. We wouldn’t even have to improve that much to be that club. Just get the finer details right for once.

They were always giving Crosby the transfer window
We were then on by Sheff Utd and spurs
We then lost 3-0 to bottom of the league which left vale no choice but to end it
It’s that simple where do people get these stupid assumptions from
Because the sigings were awful. Any manager would fail with that rubbish window.

Couple of utterly clueless callers on Radio Stoke....

- one saying that he's gutted Crosby has gone and he would now like Dunn to get the job.

- another saying that Crosby should have had until the end of the season and that he wasn't the problem.

Genuinely baffling what some Vale fans see when they go to games (assuming that they do?!)

Couple of utterly clueless posters on the BBC League 1 site as well - one calling for John Askey and the other for Joey Barton. Another saying that it's a ridiculous decision to sack AC because he was on track to ensure our survival in L1. Is there something in the water?

As others have said....it was so inevitably predictable. Many called it as soon as he was appointed.

Feel Crosby has been thrown under a bus somewhat, but he also must have had significant input in who we brought in. Having said that, did he get who he wanted? The evidence suggests not. This squad doesn't strike me as the 'powerful, athletic, physical ' squad that was promised. In fact, in many games we've looked significantly inferior physically and athletically.

Let's face it, the two best signings, comfortably, in the summer were Arblaster and Devine. Players we would never get close to on a permanent basis.

Who else have we brought in who has genuinely made a difference....Ripley? Chislett? After that I'm struggling. We re-signed a player we let go, let go of two players (Worrall and Pett) who would comfortably make this squad. Signed Yak who bar a couple of games looks like a Ryman league player. Grant has been dreadful and looks like a player who can't get over whatever injuries he's had. Sang looks OK but doesn't excel in any position. Uche was a panic buy because we hadn't bought in any strikers. Loft is well..... he isn't very good.

Rudge said I think that if you get 7 out of 10 signings right then it's a good thing. We've probably got 3 right.

DF couldn't manage a fart without shìtting himself.

He took over as manager of Barnsley and saved them from relegation. Got Bury promoted to L1. Took Mansfield to a play off semi final. He was head hunted by Mansfield from Swindon who he had got up to 7th in the table.

True.  Done ok as a Manager (possibly helped with budget especially Bury) but has now got himself in a role where he has a hand in everything good, and is one step away from the blame when it all goes pear shaped.

I think you need check out Bury again.

"Flitcroft led Bury to promotion into League One with a 1–0 win over Tranmere Rovers on the final day of the 2014–15 season, securing the third automatic promotion place behind Shrewsbury Town and Burton Albion".

And got sacked from all 3. The 3rd was perhaps a bit harsh though. + a 4th, Bolton.

Barnsley have sacked manager David Flitcroft after less than a year in charge at Oakwell.

The Tykes lost 3-0 at home to Birmingham on Saturday and are bottom of the Championship, with the worst defensive record in the league.

... 11 points from 17 games.

On 16 November, Flitcroft was sacked [by Bury] after a run of 11 games without a win

Flitcroft was sacked on 14 May 2019, two days after Mansfield lost a penalty shoot-out to Newport County in the play-off semi-finals.

On 12 June 2020, Bolton Wanderers confirmed that [Flitcroft] would not be given a new contract after the club's relegation out of League One
