Bad News !!

Really enjoying this.

First they demanded the recently sacked manager of Chelsea. 'Throw whatever money he wants at him'.

Then, they demanded the sacked manager of Tottenham, as Nathan Heaney swears down he swore him at the training ground tucking into oatcakes.

Now, they'll end up with a perfectly decent manager like Carsley or Mowbray but the fans will boo him off the pitch by the 3rd defeat, saying they've 'lost' their club again. The Brit will be emptier than Vale Park as thousands of folks realise they don't really like their football club unless they're in the Premier League.

Half will want Pulis back and half will storm the boardroom again looking for old man Coates after he didn't offer Nagelsmann 60m a year to come to ST4.

Brilliant. Happy Christmas to one and all.

Good Lord, this is hardly a list of elite managers. It does make me think that whichever one of these is appointed will have a brief honeymoon period like Neill before the fans inevitably turn on him and he goes...

With the way in which he transformed Birmingham from previous season relegation candidates into 6th position in The Championship this season, before being unceremoniously dumped in favour of Wayne Rooney, makes him a potentially good appointment in my eyes.  For this reason, I hope they don't take him, he might just do a 'Birmingham' on Stoke!

I would welcome them getting Eustace or Schumacher in. His record at Birmingham was actually pretty poor over his full time in charge. Lacks experience & we all know how it ends with ex players.

Schumacher has done an excellent job at Plymouth but that one feels very much like a replica of the Nathan Jones appointment. Similar in the fact that both Luton & Plymouth were on an upward trajectory due to the way they are run, when Stoke have come hunting the manager. Let's not forget, Plymouth were doing very well previously under Ryan Lowe. Schumacher just picked up the batton. Likewise when Jones left Luton, they still made their way to the prem without him.

I was worried they might get a name like Nuno & really force some real change, but starting to look more likely that reality has set in & they will have to settle for a lower profile name.

Schumacher or Eustace will end in tears. Bring it on.

Bill, they thought they got a maestro from Birmingham when they appointed Rowett. He was in the same position as Useless, getting turfed out to make room for Zola. Look what happened then, perhaps history will repeat itself. A club in turmoil

Stoke are a natural Championship level club. They won't be able to attract Premier League level managers unless they demonstrate the ambition and financing to get back there.

Looking at the clubs in the Championship, Stoke are run of the mill attendance  wise. They have flaked support quite badly since coming down partly through bad management.

I have no adverse feelings towards Stoke, but equally they seem to be a drifting club. That can lead to flirting with relegation rather than promotion.

"Hey Graham, John Coates calling. I must say your experience is fantastic - you've managed two clubs in the Premier League and took one of those to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, how do you fancy taking over a club fifth bottom of the Championship? Graham? Graham? Are you still there..."

Surely that's just lazy journalism given his surname?

I only refer to John Eustace's coaching ability.  From a relatively close-up view (living down here, I have a number of Blues' supporting friends) and they were impressed with the progress Birmingham made under his stewardship.  Needless to say and not surprisingly, they are miffed at the poor performances since Wayne Rooney took over!

Schumacher (if it’s him) has done well to get Plymouth promoted from L1 but it’ll likely follow the same pattern. He’ll get a few results at some point and they’ll suddenly start thinking promotion then they will just go back to being their usual mediocre selves and he’ll be gone in about a year to 18 months.

They can name whoever as manager it really makes no odds ultimately. For as long as John Coates is running the show it won’t change. The brains of the operation Denise doesn’t really have much to do with them. I’d go so far as to say they just have John focus on the <ovf censored> to give him something to do away from Bet365.
