£25 for the chance to watch your team play for the very first time in a League Cup quarter final?

I hope we get knocked out cos God knows how much it will be for the semi

You dont have to go, wanting your team loose means you are no fan. Save a £1a week for six weeks then it will only mean you putting in another £19. First time we have ever got this far, you are a disgrace.

You have clearly missed out on my sarcasm.

Perhaps you should buy a dictionary as your spelling is also a disgrace.

For me the cost of tickets in this country is too expensive regardless across all forms of football.  There are now teams in league 2 charging upwards of £30 for a ticket when in Germany, the average cost of a season ticket in the Bundesliga is £200.

I feel £20 would have been a fair price for this match, I realise it is a quarter final and most people are probably going to find a way to purchase the tickets but I can't help but feel for some of those where £25 is too much to justify getting a ticket.

As someone who works for the local authority, we live in a massively deprived area and some people do not realise how much this is the case.  The amount of people I see and refer to foodbanks is just awful, admittedly these people are unlikely to go to football but the difference of £5 in a price of a ticket to some people is massive, apologies for the rant.

Tough balancing act for the club and I believe it's not totally their call with prices agreed between both clubs and the FA - it would have been a damn site more expensive for us all if we'd been drawn away at Chelsea

Seems reasonable charging normal matchday price to me but it's a shame all kids are banded as U16 and there's not a cheaper price for younger kids

It’s an interesting point about this agreement for both clubs. I think gate receipts are distributed 60/40 for cup matches, it’s conceivable Boro wouldn’t  go any lower to enable them to make a bit of money whilst cover operating costs i.e travel, accommodation.

I think the issue with the ticket pricing is that the casual or part time Vale fan might not pay that price. The 6k / 7k or so regulars will happily pay £25 though.

Some people just won’t be enticed by playing Middlesbrough at home, regardless if it’s a quarter final. If it’s a Liverpool or Chelsea then it’s a different story.

It’s also a week before Christmas - people are busy and might not have the money. Add to this that it’s rather easy right now to watch the game on some form of IPTV channel.

Don’t forget that we often lose at least a thousand on the gate for Tuesday night games anyway.

I’ll be there, it’s a chance for us to get into a major cup semi final, even if we are the under dogs. However, I do think we might have missed the opportunity to get a definite home sell out.

Is that the same community though who didn't bother at £15 on Saturday? The same community who haven't bothered with this competition so far despite heavily-reduced prices? Vale do heaps for "the community" but it can't be run purely for their benefit.

Plus, we have stuck just £1.00 on match-day prices - and frankly if people can't find that with 6 weeks to plan for it, I suspect they weren't going anyway!

Imagine how people would cope if we got to the final.

Going about this completely the wrong way.

Slagging off 'casuals', 'fairweathers', or kids who simply haven't been able to get anyone in their family interested enough to take them to Sutton at home isn't the route to growing the fanbase. The fans we need to grow the club are not going to attend Fleetwood in the Carabao 1st round. They might attend Boro in the Quarter Final if the buzz is there and the price is fair.

£25 is steep but, whatever, we have notice and I know the money stays in the club. Carol's making us self-sufficient and we're a business at the end of the day, not a charity.

The issue is that the club should be getting as many youngsters through the door as possible. We simply have to increase the number of young people who choose to go to Port Vale on a Saturday - there's nowhere near enough and we're only just beginning to recover from the lost decade from 2008-2018. You do that by making memories

Kids for a £5, under the lights, electric atmosphere for a massive cup game and the potential of a semi final. Swindon and Wembley made great progress. We need another magical night.

Instead, a family of 4 forks out £80 before parking, food, and drink during the most expensive week of the year. We've aimed to maximise revenue from the existing fanbase rather than use it as an opportunity to attract some newbies, which (considering we're now self-sufficient) is the only route to moving upwards. We've played it safe - which is of course their call - but could be a missed opportunity if its a special one.

To summarise, make it cheap for kids, get round the schools promoting it, win 5-0.
