Typical Vale luck yesterday with Uche getting injured .
One minute it looks like he’s moving on for a fee which would have probably enabled us a chance to bring in a forward or two but now we don’t even have him available and he’ll be gone for nothing in the summer !
These are the unexpected issues which must be a nightmare when trying to manoeuvre things in a transfer window, not as simple as some of our experts on here seem to think 🤔

UTV

The only thing I would add, with the recruitment resource and alleged 'savvy' we have in place - Why have x4 transfer windows passed (well nearly) and we have failed to address what was and is a fundamental issue with strikers?

Loft doesn't score he doesn't win headers he defends well though so I suggest play him at the back as his work rates ok .

He will score no more than 3 max if played every game and that be pushing it .

Like a trier will applaud effort but hasn't star quality

Mind you Uche didn't look interested yesterday .

Who did

Chislett shorrock Sang Ripley and 2 of them were subs .

Get some players IN

Yeah we Wrexham have what 8 centre forwards, but Oxford just paid 400k for Godwin  , I think there’s some mileage in it as Fleetwood are skint

Could our new El Presidento buy him and fund some of his wages.  Only joking.  It's only a show title and feel good title for him and the club.

We need a forward now, not in the summer now Uche is out for a long period.

I just don't understand this "we're skint and can't compete" narrative.

For League One clubs, we all get the same TV money, then attendances + extra commercial revenue will dictate what we spend on top of that.

We're 15th on the attendance list.

Northampton, Exeter, Cambridge, Shrewsbury, Wycombe, Stevenage and Burton all have lower attendances - but are above us in the league.

If we can't compete, then how can these teams compete?

I'm not saying that your attendances dictate your league position (otherwise what is the point playing the games) but it's not as though we're in the Championship getting 7,000 a week and every other team is getting 20,000+

These new markets that flick keeps talking about might be new markets for us, but they definitely aren't for other clubs. Irish clubs are already rinsed of there best talent teams like Lincoln every year, aussie teams loses their best to the SPL all the time.

If we can't compete with Leyton Orient for Joe Pigott, we've got 0 chance of trying to compete with Hearts or Hibs. Maybe Scandinavia is the answer to all our prayers.

Also made a fair bit in the summer off the Forrester deal. Yet we only deal in loans now and have to get a loan for the scoreboard.

Is it that we had to get a loan for the scoreboard, or took up the option of a loan that then allows expenditure in other areas? If it's the latter, surely that's just good business sense.

Any rumours about new signings yet ?

No new signings - but ordered the Gods food last night using Povey's mail delivery.  5 dozen oatcakes and 12 pikelets (plain - no dead flies in mine).  Just need the Cheshire cheese and bacon and then we are set - space in the freezer made.  Daughter will no doubt take a dozen for them.  Brought her or dragged her up right as she loves them  🤣

Bolton signing Aaron Collins which is set to allow Bodvarsson to move to Cambridge... surely we can compete there? Ideal replacement for Uche.

You would think - but the process we use says - NO - Striker is next season - possibly - just wish Flickers would add a year to the end of next season we are getting a striker.  Being saying this for 2 years now and we only seem to get strikers no one else wants, have injury problems and take 8 or 10 games to get near match fitness.

Agree, if it’s interest free why would we stump up the full amount up front.

But surely a great option for us Bodvarsson, probably wont cost a lot, we have decent links with Bolton (Carol IIRC is close to their owner) and would be a perfect striker to be the hold up man. Long term wise he would be a perfect part of the jigsaw.
