As we are short of strikers i wouldn't risk wilson for this one, maybe play Garrity up top on his own with Chislett and Devine just behind him.... although i fully expect Massey to be played as the lone striker for this one or if Thomas is fit now start him with Chislett and Garrity behind him.

Shows that there are still options out there even with a lack of strikers

Given the upcoming heavy schedule of games, I don’t think Wilson, Ojo or Garrity will start tomorrow. I expect to see Massey, Lowe and maybe even Rhys Walters start.

I have a horrible feeling that they are going to come and stink the place out tomorrow, get it to 0-0 at FT, win on penalties, then draw Man Utd away next round. That would be so Port Vale.

A volcano is going to erupt in Biddulph tomorrow and you'll miss the game.

Trouble is even if we play a strong team there are no guarantees we will win easily or even win… and what if we lose the services of Arblastrer or Ripley through injury or the game takes it out of players legs and the result is a poor performance at home to Bolton on Saturday in front of a large home crowd… and if we don’t play our back up players / young players against the lowest placed team in the efl then when do we play them?

I ve no doubt Crosby will get the balance right.

Yep BN it's a fine balance but we're getting to nose bleed territory in the Lge Cup if we win and it could get lucrative but I'm with you in trusting that Crosby will do the right thing, he and his staff know the players.

Could there be ET tomorrow, or does it go straight to penos if all square after 90 mins?

ET went home years ago.  I don’t think he (it?) will have any hand, three fingered or otherwise, in deciding the outcome of this one.

My username is a nod to a bygone era of my care-free youth. I’m a Stone resident these days, much posher 🤣 (tin hat on) and definitely no volcano’s here… although looking at the state of the roads you’d be forgiven for thinking there had been an earthquake.

Aston Villa would be nice.

As another Valiant in Brum I agree!

I have the same worry except I think they will score because they do score goals its keeping them out is the problem.

So I suspect they will setup to frustrate and look for corners and free kicks to score.

Probably Rhys Walters and Jack Shorrack will get starts along with our subs from the weekend. Massey a definite starter and hopefully Thomas.

Keep Wilson, Garrity, Plant etc on the bench.

Fingers crossed we get an early goal to deflate them and draw them out.

I was out of order with my Massey comment above. He knows the way to go, battles hard but I guess what I'm calling for is him acquiring Kane like composure.

That would be the old Port Vale..

Feels like something special is brewing....

I hope we don't make too many changes as it could go horribly wrong early on .

Sutton are very direct and physical side unlike crewe in the last round.

Too many changes will hinder our progress I fear

Sutton are the worst team in the football league at the moment. We have nothing to worry about apart from complacency. Whatever team is picked is capable of winning this game.

When was the  last time we had a big club come to our ground I know Man City the other season was the last one we visited .

It seems years maybe the 90s .

It's a very important game tonight .

So many reasons win the game but the most important reason  is it gives us a chance of drawing a tie which will financially aid Carol and Kevin while the team are getting to a level where more and more folk turn up at Vale Park .

Ollie Arblaster alone is worth another few thousand on gate home gamely .

It's all about building

A very big night for the Vale .

Sutton need be treated like we playing  Stoke .

The fans need be fired up and encouraging to make sure this cup run continues .

Snowball effect its called at the moment we are a very tiny one but there's a lot of room for growth and grow we must do
