I think he will go higher than league 2. Bristol Rovers are apparently interested.

Also interestingly Tommy Widdrington Is one of their head of recruitment.

Tommy was always good at head hunting,IC.

Cheers for that , some good players released.

I had it in my head that Carvalho at Accrington made one appearance for us at Orient a few years ago on loan from Everton. Obviously a different fella,

You're thinking of Francisco Junior!

Am in the process of updating the spreadsheet - work been busy so have a backlog.

Thank the lord that Baggers has a lovely little article with all the released players compiled.

Will sort them all out later.

Never played for the first team but he was in our development squad a few years ago.

I've gone through all the retained lists: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oqwDRZY9maZWmOkOr-qZ9dvTvX0OI7MykNVsuKRP9f4/edit?usp=sharing

Main conclusions

1. There are loads of decent centre halves on a free. Keeping Smith would be easier but its genuinely no big deal if he leaves, and we might save a few quid in wages

(Krystian Pearce, George Taft, Nathaniel Knight-Percival, Nathan Pond, Luke Prosser, Harry Davis, Cameron Burgess, Rory McArdle, Yann Songo'o, Farrend Rawson, Matt Mills, Nathan Cameron, Ben Nugent). These are just the players released; there's more who can be signed on a free but have a contract from their existing club.

2. I refuse to engage with Stevenage's retained list; its got about 25 names on so I've just picked the players out I know can perform at this level (Ben Nugent, Ben Kennedy etc)

3. Lots of 'decent' players, not many excellent ones. Good for improving depth and competition but there isn't many of the fabled '2 or 3 quality additions'. They're gonna have to be tempted from higher divisions.

4. Backup keeper won't be an issue; Neal, Olejnik, Letheren, Charles-Cook, Logan, Collin, and Roche. Depends how much of the budget we want to devote to the position, but we must start thinking about a post-Scott Brown world, so maybe some of the old lads here aren't needed.

5. Bugger all forwards

6. Fair few tasty full backs (Wiseman, Jackson, Shephard); unfortunately all on the side we're sound on

7. Lots of opportunity to bring some competition in for Worrall, Amoo, and Browne (Otis Khan, Harry McKirdy, Stefan Scougall, Shay McCartan, Craig Conway, Chris Clements, Jordan Cook, George Williams, Arthur Gnahoua, Joel Grant, Ben Kennedy)

To add to the 'loads of decent centre halves to replace Smith', Jordan Turnbull has been released by Northampton today.

Taft, Burgess, or Turnbull would be lovely. Rawson, Pearce, Prosser, McArdle, Davis are the next tier down.

Surprised at Turnbull being released, just checked their forum and they think it's financial - apparently signed in a January window when they were throwing cash around.

I think it depends on how you define best. Harry Davis is a very good footballer, although not a meathead type centrehalf. George Taft is also a decent footballer. 12 months ago Pearce was arguably the best centrehalf in the league.
