Match Thread - Port Vale v Mansfield Town

Just watched the highlights, even they are bad for health. Just hope this high temp/high pressing game, which is what we seem to be seeing under Askey, continues. So pleased for Miller and all the players, some of Oyeleke's touches were top class, as for Scott Brown's save, words can't describe that moment, turned the game and hopefully Vale's season.

Amazed that Mansfield are in the top 7 with a defense like that.

Yeovil's gonna be another nail biter.

They’ve only conceded 30 goals, 5 better than anyone else I think in the league but yesterday they looked abysmal and Miller ran them ragged.

All season we've looked a much better team when Conlon and Oyeleke have both been fit. My guess is that our average points per game with those 2 playing is probably upper mid table, without probably bottom. It's a lot easier to look a decent side if you boss or at least achieve parity in midfield.

Cheered when I heard the Pope news.

Conlon, Worrall, Miller, Oyeleke, Joyce superb. Back four solid as a rock. Smith magnificent. Senior players encouraging not barking. Skillful players playing with freedom.

Best performance since Luton 15 months ago and proof that these players are capable of far more once the shackles are off and the 'focal point' is removed.

Long live Port Vale FC playing football, scouting opposition to inform actual tactics and encouraging players to be creative.

I wish folk would stop quoting REP. I'm doing my best to ignore him. But as his question seems to be directed at me, I would suggest that putting all the players apart from Brown into a blender to produce a pile of **** was rather offensive.

Out of context, at least quote the thread it pertains to and the comments made around it.

That comment equates to wishing suicide on someone does it?

Oh I forgot you won’t be able to see the response so I’d imagine you will duck the issue once more. Another of the ‘gives it but can’t take it’ brigade. As I mentioned earlier this week how long after SS take over does the personal abuse begin on them and they go from heroes to villains?

I must admit I smiled (rather than cheered) when I heard he was out injured, it can’t be a coincidence given our differing styles of play when he’s unavailable that our last two wins in god knows how long have been when he’s been out.

How long has it been since we have won with both Kay and Pope starting?

Pope would make a great impact sub moving forwards.

In the league they have played together as a pair, 19 times. Winning 5. 17 without them both. Winning 4.

Neither here nor there really.

You conveniently missed out the part where you mentioned calling CS a “Big fat ....,”

No - it wishes murder on an entire team. If you genuinely believe that the concrete block comment was a genuine wish for you to commit suicide then I genuinely believe your comment about the blender was a genuine wish to murder the entire team.

Checking your response to me, REP, just to see what rubbish you came out with this time. I've given and taken loads on here and never got my knickers in a twist about it. I don't when someone puts in on a keyboard, I might if they said it to my face. Life's too short to waste it on crap on a message board so if someone writes garbage I just put them on ignore rather than get involved. I find it quite therapeutic.

Glad you think they're taking over. That's given me a bit of a boost.

Were they missing someone from the center of defense or changed the formation cause the defense was all over the shop from the first minute. Miller did play well.
