You also forgot to add. Sol Campbell has a bit of tactical knowledge and how to get the best out of the players.

For what he's achieved, he also commands instant respect. If you cannot learn from a man of Campbell's experience and improve under his tutorship then you never will.

Whereas rumours in the bar Saturday, well actually not rumours, more a case of my eldest ear wigging a conversation by one of our defenders sitting with his family on the adjacent table, in which he was suggesting the players don't even listen to Neil any more.

More, he rarely attends coaching sessions, and in his team talks there is little tactics mentioned, little mention of what the opposition may or may not do, and few snippets aimed at individuals on what their specific jobs and or priorities are meant to be!

In theory Michael Brown fits the same bill. He was a top flight player with a major honour to his name and was...dreadful.

Crawley almost picked up a valuable point tonight at Mansfield, whose team included Grant and Ajose, but went down to a goal two minutes from time. In the process, they picked up five yellows, so it may affect their selection on Saturday. Thought Crawley would decline after Kewell left but far from it.

PS in other results tonight, the mighty potters lost 2-3 to Shrewsbury after being two goals up with just 20 minutes to go. How long now before their kindly, fair-minded fans turn against their new manager. If he goes, perhaps Norman might offer him a job

Cambridge.

Not sure of the logic why yellow cards tonight may affect their selection on Saturday ?

Please elaborate I'm confused

Yes, of course - I was thinking that if any of the players have now accumulated sufficient yellows to lead to a suspension, they could not be selected. On reflection though, FA rules, I think, mean that players can't be suspended unless they've accumulated 10 yellows. Clutching a bit at straws, I think!

These are exactly the types of games we ought to be entering with hope of points, as they are near the bottom with us. If we cannot beat or at least get a point from these games we may as well call it a day. We really should have a full squad of players awaiting excitedly for this match, but instead we are scratching around again for a system and players that can perform correctly. For God's sake Aspin and Co, you have had plenty of time to seek, watch and agree what players we need, yet here we are on the eve of another vital game with no enthusiasm or potential for fans to enthuse about. Vale, you are a joke and will probably get what you deserve on Saturday. Beyond belief this Club.

Am having trouble posting tonight...anyone else having the same problem?

I think it's almost certain that Miller will start up front Saturday, but my concern looking at the squad, is that he will probably be doing so on his own, with whichever CH's are playing out wide asked to push on and support him!

Seriously though, as I certainly can't see Dodds being in the line up, as neither are forwards, Hanno and Whitfield are likely to be out wide and to me they hold the key.

We did similarly at Stevenage and Yeovil, and it worked well, difference being Pope was in the middle for both to deal with the inevitable bombardment that ensued, and if I am right and Miller does play down the middle, I do seriously question if as a team or as a manager we are capable of getting the ball down and playing it on the deck. If we don't though, and in which case we play with the worlds smallest target man it could embarrassingly messy!

I also think, especially as apparently he played really well for the ressies, I think Conlon should be given permission to leave the naughty step and start Saturday. Without Pope we will need mobility, and energy and for once not height, and equally will be surely be looking to the players who can carry the ball to create, for what I hope will be a front three, but fear a lone isolated battler.

The only other poser, is how many CH's will start the match?

Sweep stake time me thinks
