A strange appointment of new manager at Fleetwood. Don’t think even Smurf would employ Joey Barton as head coach. He can’t even start the job until his lengthy ban for gambling issues finishes in the summer. Views ?

Good player but an ******** as a person can't see him doing much as a manager unless he has a big budget and he is also able to play himself

Person with a massive ego problem. Believes he's God's gift. Was a half decent player but his temper got the better of him. Who knows these days what makes a "good" manager?

I would be delighted if I was a fan of another League One club because that means one relegated place is already taken next season. Could change after he leaves at Christmas I suppose.

His biggest problem will be his lack of knowledge of players at this level, so who signs the players ?

 

Also, as he has only played at the top level, his understanding of players limitations will be critical. Get the players onside and he may have a chance, but if he alienates players with his attitude, then I fear he may be done before Christmas.

 

However I wouldn’t say that he isn’t without a chance of relative success, but I suspect that the odds of this scenario may be quite low.
