In the 50s KO on Good Friday was usually 5.30 if my memory still works, whereas usual KO on Saturday was 3.15 to allow people to get from the pub after they closed at 3.00. Times have changed in many ways.

 

Me Uncle Fred always got to watch the last race on Grandstand when it was 3.15 ko's and everyone else was 3. Me dad had the car running door open and when the race finished we left from opposite Cobridge Park were parked up and in the ground for kick off. Happy Days!

I thought the 3-15 KO was due to miners’ shifts.It was your Uncle was it?My Dad used to take his transitor to the match to listen to the rest of the racing.We knew he’d won when he gave my brother and I a ten bob note each.
