Match Thread: Port Vale v Exeter City

The team seems to have improved somewhat and players are trying.

Confidence should be getting better now.

Something tells me that the elusive win will come against Exeter and I fancy a 3-1 win for the Vale.

We must be optimistic and supportive. :upthevale::keepup::groupwavereversed::groupwavereversed:

Hope you’re right, with other results continuing to go our way we don’t need many more points to be safe, possibly only another 4or 5.

45 would require Chesterfield winning 5 of 10 and Barnet 5 of 8 so would need a big upturn in form by them both to require that. 42-43 I think would be enough.
Newport won 5 of their last 7 last season, but that was unusual. The pressure has to be maintained, I would prefer 3 more wins.

Honestly thought this would be postponed, but if they did clear the pitch & chuck the covers on over the weekend, with this weather it should be fine. Looking forward to it anyway now, a win would be massive!

Will we be busting a gut to get it on? Pope out Kay not yet fit, get it postponed again and rescheduled for when they are back?

Just a thought.

Only 3 games tomorrow, Crewe-FGR & Morecambe-Colchester the others. If we win (somehow) & Crewe/Morecambe both lose, it could then look like:

18 - Vale P38, 41 Pts

19 - FGR P38, 40 Pts

20 - Morecambe P37, 39 Pts

21 - Crewe P38, 37 Pts

22 - Grimsby P38, 37 Pts

We could be 10 points clear with 8 games to play come 22:00 Tuesday, which I reckon is much better than having the game in hand, stacking the pressure towards the end of the season. Other teams might have more points by then & it could end up being a major 'must-win' game (there is added pressure on to the Chesterfield & Crewe games too).

Having Pope back would obviously be a big plus (& so would Kay too IMO), but we need to break this awful run before hitting the Easter weekend (& I can't see us getting anything at Wycombe).

If it was that easy
