If we went totally bust I would support one but not if the main club still existed even in non league. I think we will survive even if it is grim at the moment, still five clubs quite a bit worse off yet.
This is my though a pheonix club is an great idea of Vale went bust. Norton stadium would be ideal. However only if pvfc went under.

Crazy idea. The only Phoenix club that has really worked is AFC Wimbledon and that is because it is in an area where being a millionaire is normal.

There are enough examples given in other parts of this thread to disprove that comment. We (ie Port Vale) are already a phoenix club. In 1909 we were effectively wound up, and reformed by Cobridge Church taking the name of Port Vale. Only 10 years later we were back in the Football League to replace Leeds City, who themselves were replaced by another phoenix club Leeds United. That paticular phoenix club did rather well.

All of these events were a long time ago, but lessons of history are lessons that we should not disregard. Going into a position where a phoenix position is necessary would be the worse situation we could be in today. However, if we had to start again, then so be it.

An example from 1909 is not a strong example of a Phoenix club being successful. There were only 2 professional divisions and running a club did not cost millions of pounds.

The only remote example in the modern game is AFC Wimbledon. All the others are in a worse position than we currently are.

Examples such as Rangers or Middlesborough in 1986 do not count, as they are not pheonix clubs, they were bankrupt clubs that became different companies for financial reasons.

I urge you to check the facts. Newport and Accrington are not in a worse position than we are. Also there are 5 Phoenix clubs on the National League one level below us. It is wrong to say that Wimbledon are the only successful Phoenix club
