If we are seriously looking at £2mill from this Hugil deal then all Smurf has to do is give a fraction of that to Aspin right now and we can get in a decent LB and CM before 11pm. If we don't then we are in serious danger of losing our football league status.

£250,000 of that would set up brilliantly for the summer.

However, do we have any faith in Smurf anymore? We made £250,000 last Jan, and we signed Pugh and Fasan.

Why have we signed another Centre back that has just come back from being out injured and hasn’t played since September? We need a keeper and a left back. Possibly another central midfielder.

I know this will be unpopular but it looks like Aspo is having the same problems with the transfer window as Brown had,Brown was slaughtered for not actually signing what we needed and it would seem Aspo is having to trawl the very bottom of the pool to sign anyone at all.......Now then who is the common denominator let me think he's fat he's blue and as daft as a brush.

taken from Wiki..."However, Howkins suffered a hamstring injury in EFL Trophy Group Stage, in a 2–0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers on 30 August 2016.[15] As a result, he was sidelined for a month.[16][17] After returning from injury, Howkins had a handful of first team appearances before being sent-off for a second bookable offence, in a 4–0 loss against Portsmouth and suffered his own injury concern.[18] After extending his loan spell until the end of the season, Howkins soon suffered an injury that kept him out for two months.[19] After losing his first team place towards the end of the season, Howkins went on to make the total of 20 appearances.[20]

On 12 August 2017, Howkins signed a six-month loan deal with League Two team Cambridge United.[2] After injuring his hamstring that kept him out for a month, he made his debut, coming on as a late second-half substitute, in a 2–1 loss against Mansfield Town on 23 September 2017.[21]"

...unfortunately, the common feature in his Wiki profile is his injury record - his hamstrings seem particularly vulnerable. Let's hope for better luck with him.

This.

I'm convinced now that we are shopping in Poundland, and therefore just taking what is given to us.

Its hardly poundland.. Its what league 2 is. Scraping around for players that no one else wants. I'm not convinced that Jules, Raglan and Howkins are as good as the business the likes of FGR and Chesterfield have done though and I fear we are in for a very long few months.

Raglan is a decent signing, as is Hannant. Instead of signing 2 more centre halves who have both been injured recently we should have got a left back and a proper keeper.

James Bond

Sports Producer, BBC Shropshire

“Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Hurst has a proven track record on unearthing non-League gems – and the latest is Abo Eisa from National South Wealdstone. He’s a young attacking midfielder with a penchant for spectacular goals. Undisclosed fee involved.”

Taken from the BBC web site.

So these players ARE out there.
