I argued with you on here a while back about your criticism of Pope. I gave my opinion on why he was not scoring and that your criticism of him was unfair based on what Brown was asking him to do. Aspin, having a great footballing brain (unlike you it would appear) has seen the same issues and rectified them and bingo Popey is the player I and others always knew he was. None of your criticism of pope was justified, it was rambling

Im not heated or really arguing, in fact i'm smiling at some of the moronic comments from certain people. There surely has to be a valid reason as to the supposed short contract, could it be down to what we have left in the budget given fair play rules as someone has suggested? To be fair I hadn't thought of that but it is plausible. Any other reason, trying to penny pinch for example, would be footballing suicide on Smurthwaite's part surely?

to be fair Matt, it appears the people causing the arguments are people who blindly back all Smurthwaites actions. They seem to have difficulty in accepting that many of us still have the opposite opinion of the man. The fact I, and other supposed Smurthwaite "haters", have actually praised him on this thread for appointing Aspin seems to have gone way over their heads. Great appointment, big worry his contract may only be to Christmas, what is the problem with that opinion?

 

This is where you get selective Tim.OP has clearly stated that Smurf deserves no credit for appointing Neil,only Adams.

Completely disagree regarding Pope, he appeared unfit, completely frustrated throwing his arms around like a child and was hardly challenging in aerial battles. He’s now transformed. The manager deserves credit for bringing the best out in him and finding a more suitable system as Adams did. The player himself also deserves huge credit.

 

Credit is something afforded when people do well with decisions.

 

It’s amazing how critics of Pope now give reasoned credit yet and few disgruntled silly beggars have to keep finding ways of bringing up negatives with regards to the owner despite the improvements he’s made.

 

I’ve never debated the length of Aspin’s contract, weird that you should bring it up.

I neither know nor care what he is materially worth, frankly he is worth nothing to me... you have to know someone to hate them although you can hate what they do or stand for but thats not them.
