To repeat the message, the Haywood Academy asked me to push the new parking. For anyone unclear of the location the post code (for sat navs) is in the following message:

There is parking available a five minute walk away from the stadium at Haywood Academy ST6 7AB.

Cost is just £3 per car

It surprises me that Hamil Rd is open to traffic while the crowds are dispersing after the game. Drivers seem to take no account of a few thousand people walking up and down that road to go home. I wish the police would do something useful and either get the road closed for 15 minutes or slow the traffic down by standing in the road.

The police blocked the road off recently but still let traffic up to the point where the road was blocked off.

Nice try but I don't think it will work. Who is going to pay £3 to park further away than normal if they can find a place in one of the side streets, closer to the ground, for free? And if it's raining...

Smithie is right about the speed of the cars zooming up and down the Hamil. It's ridiculous when there are lots of fans trying to cross the road.

It would be OK to keep it open if drivers slowed down but they clearly lack the awareness to do that.

Anyway I'm dragging this subject off topic but I fear it's a matter of time before someone is run over after the game. It's so obviously an issue to me that it's a bit worrying the police don't see it.

Which entrance for the school parking? Haywood Rd, High Lane or Dolly’s Lane? Good idea but poor communication.

Sent from my iPhone using onevalefan

That was my reaction. A map would be useful, too. The school has sports fields on Dolly’s Lane but the main car park used to be on High Lane.

I don't think the issue is with the drivers having a lack of awareness, more likely to be with the folks who appear to believe that highway code doesn't apply on a Saturday afternoon...

If they're not alert to the need to slow down with a couple of thousand people walking on the pavement and by necessity on the road sometimes, I'd call that a lack of awareness.
