Two home games on the bounce and we've lost 1-0 to two sucker goals and we did enough in both games to get something but in both games two defensive lapses have cost Vale. At the moment the ball isn't running for Vale.

 

I'm surprised Davis started at right back and Denton didn't start at left back, I woould prefer Brown play two up top at home but can understand what he's trying to do with runners from midfield. For me Harness looked the one player who might engineer something up front and I was surprised he was taken off. Vale missed Tonge, the one player who puts his foot on the ball and dictates the play from midfield.

 

Popey doesn't have the speed of a Michael Owen and neither do many hold up players, I've seen Giroud, a Premier Lge player who cost millions, with the ball at his feet get a 10yd start on goal many times and get caught by defenders.

Looks to me like we can match teams, but carry so little threat that we will inevitably lose most games 1 or 2-0, as we also seem prone to conceding.

I'm suprised Davies started at all. He's too slow with the ball and in a flap resorts to just lumping it up, more often than not its possession conceded.

Also. Message to corner takers and wingers putting crosses in. If you put the ball high in the air and about two yards from the goal line then it's a good bet it will end up in the keepers hands and not on a strikers head.

Gunning. In as another center back but useless going forward

Montana. Absolutely useless

Harness. No threat sorry

Whitfield. Too weak to offer any football threat

Middleton. Tried and maybe will get better

 

Worral. The only footballer we have. Brill on the wing. Get rid of other 5

Smith. Very good game

Kay. Not at fault

Painting. No issue

Pope. It's now embarrassing to watch. On his own he has no chance

Sum up to say we have better footballers than last year, cannot be any worse can they but we look like a team just as bad as last year.
