Seems strange that we haven't allocated the number 4 or 10 squad numbers unless we had someone in mind.

 

Either that or we retired the number 10 shirt to honour the memory of JJ Hooper.

Definitely need another centre mid and recognised full back. You cannot play centre halves at full back.

But with pope, pyke, forrester, turner, and when fit, barnett, we have more pressing conerns. A box to box centre mid and another full back being the most pressing. If we are having to play centre halves at full back when one needs a rest, then we dont have adequate cover. We currently has options up front that he doesnt have elsewhere.

We certainly need another central midfielder, if not two. Not experienced players who have lost a bit of pace now but box to box players who can run past Pope, create chances and score a few goals. I don't know what this lad Whitfield can do and where he plays but we are desperate for someone with a bit of creativity/flair who can get up and down the pitch and score goals. A player like Bridgy or Dodds or Eagles. That, for me, is the missing piece of the jigsaw but those kind of players - midfielders who create and score goals - are like hen's teeth. Maybe Whitfield and De Freitas can help us out but I still think we're short in centre midfield.

Completely agree, our lack of pace in there is the main concern. Tonge + a.n.other is definitely the way to go.
