Norman Smurthwaite

That may be the case but the complete over reaction of some on here ("shocking"!) is pretty pathetic. He's helping out in a kiosk, it's not the end of the world. If the guy found a cure for cancer we'd have people complaining that he'd not done it quickly enough.

The way that some Vale fans behave almost makes me want Norman to stay on, just out of spite. There are some really stupid people on here, folk that want the guy gone at any cost, people who want to starve him out, people who feel that the odd isolated chant during a depressing defeat means that there's some kind of groundswell of anti-Smurthwaite feeling out there. People need to grow up.

That says it all about you. Let's face it you like to against the general opinion just so you can sit in your ivory tower and snipe everyone! 'Fans' like you deserve the club Norman is going to give you.

Synectics. What qualifies them? All of the reasons you've posted. They run a successful business. They know how to treat people (staff and customers). They're growing. By Smurfs own admission they have the backroom personell that can help the club day to day. Plus....they're Vale fans. Everything is right about them. Everyone who genuinely cares about the Vale can see that. If they are still out there, anyone that supports Smurf simply isn't a Vale fan. There's no debate there anymore. He's an embarrassment, he's created this mess we're in, he damages the club everytime he speaks never mind makes a big decision. Who in their right mind would have faith in him making up for his mistakes? Convince me. What do you base your faith on? Is it the debt he's burdened us with? Is it his managerial appointments? Is it the way he mucks in behind the tea bar on match day instead of hosting sponsors / visiting staff / potential investors etc? Is it the way he abuses fans / customers? Is it the way he treats professional players / managers? Is it the way he's split the club from the ground? Is it the way he's failed to retain supporters or attract new ones? Is it because he thinks a modern innovative ticket promotion to attract new fans involves printing off 100 flyers and displaying them to existing fans? Is it because his explanation for not running the Bradford ST model is because we won't attract 17k sales (thick!! That's a serious sign that the bloke is thick!!). Is it the way he's handled the Brown situation having him as caretaker since December, throughout the transfer window affecting our chances of attracting players through uncertainty?...the list is endless. It's not even funny anymore it's depressing. He's so far out of his depth it's an absolute joke. We're an absolute joke. The club is a complete mess...and yet, some people still support him. If you don't want to get involved in the politics, fine, but going out of your way to support someone causing so much damage to the club is inexcusable. You're happy to see the club being ruined by his incompetence. Why is that, I wonder?????

Try reading my post before you reply. Where did I say I wanted Smurf to stay? I didn't, I said I wanted him out as much as the next person. The trouble is if you dare to air an opinion that goes against the grain you get the usual suspects jumping on the bandwagon calling you a Smurf lover, as you proved. You went as far as making stuff up that I didn't even post.

As for Synetics, running a football club isn't the same as running a business. Very few clubs make a profit outside of the Premier League, most require large amounts of money to be ploughed in by the owners to keep the club going. Is there any proof that Synetics have that amount of cash? Running a football club is a completely different kettle of fish to running a football club. As for them being Vale fans, yeah remind me what happened the last time Vale fans ran the club? That's irrelevant.

I'll repeat what I said previously, I want Smurf out. The club has gone downhill rapidly since he took over solely. But there's no point in getting him out unless there is a plan for replacing him. We forced Bill Bell out and got lumbered with V2001. We forced Jackson and Meigh out and got Deakin and Miller. We forced them out and nearly got Keith Ryder. We eventually got Smurf and Wildes who started off well then went downhill rapidly.

We've lumbered from disaster to disaster and it wouldn't surprise me if most fans wish we'd never got rid of Bill Bell in the first place. I'm not saying that we should use this as an excuse to support Smurf, you'd have to be blinkered to draw that assumption from my post. I'm saying unless we have a plan to replace him, we could potentially lumber from one disaster to another as we've been doing since 2002.

Desperately seeing Mr. Hobblesworth and Yukon scramble to every anti-Norman thread to either label it as 'boring', 'childish', or bizarrely, wanting Smurf to stay 'out of spite' is one of the most entertaining things I've seen.

I await the arrival of the other members of the Smurthwaite Defence League - Carpetman123, elav trop 1876, your city need you.

I quoted you specifically to do with Synectics. I then went on a bit of a rant after that wasn't targeting you. I read your post, you assumed my whole reply was aimed at you. It wasn't.

I have no issue with the fact he helped out. But it is yet another example of how is just rubbish as being a chairman.

How can he end up short staffed for the biggest kiosk revenue maximising opportunity we have had this season. This is the bloke who people think can turn the club around... his decision making is so poor he has to end up working behind the kiosk himself.

"5000 tickets sold you say, weeeellll I can't imagine they will want many pies or drinks."

This is the bloke that some think will turn this around. He can't even staff a kiosk appropriately for an event where you know EXACTLY how many people will be there.

So you quote me, say "You're happy to see the club being ruined by his incompetence. Why is that, I wonder?????" but then say despite the fact you quoted me, the "you're" wasn't aimed at me?! What strange logic!

That's like going up to someone in the street, saying something to them followed by "you're an idiot" but then say that bit wasn't aimed at them!

I replied to you regarding Synectics. That was done. Then I referred to others, anyone "if they're still out there" that supports Smurf. You can make something of nothing if you want to. But that part wasn't aimed at you.

I said I was bored not upset, you're the one of the ones spitting his dummy out & wailing like a two year old. You probably just need your nappy changing

Don't read them if you are bored by them.

And yes, I am upset and wailing like a two year old. I'm deeply upset about what our Chairman is doing to our club. Because I care.

Shame on you for standing by and supporting the man.

Oh and nice insult Jimmy Carr... how long did it take you to think that up? Probably leave the insults to one side shall we and have a grown up discussion?!

Why is everyone bun fighting amongst themselves again? Surely the majority opinion

Back to the original topic, Mr. Smurthwaite, for some time now I have been seriously concerned about the state of his mental health because his behaviours and statements have sometimes been bizarre. Maybe he's genuinely like this but to me observing from a distance he comes across as someone who needs therapy. Seriously, I'm not joking.

You were the one stupidly criticising people who dared suggest that Norman had got it wrong by employing Bruno pre-season.

I'm not in an ivory tower; I just can see that things aren't as black and white as some of the witless ********* on here like to make out. I'm not going against "general opinion" either. The loudest voices on here may be screaming themselves hoarse about Smurthwaite and getting all red faced with their pathetic and ridiculous allegations but amongst the general fanbase, IMO, there isn't such a desperation for change.

For the record, I want Norman to go but I want the club to be sold to the right buyer. Whilst I think Norman has made some atrocious decisions and behaved badly at times, I don't believe he is generally trying to harm the club or feather his own nest.

Smurthwaite Defence League? Is this how pathetic it's become? Just because someone doesn't want the guy out of the club at any cost? Christ.
