Gary Rowett

I'm more concerned about the situation with Jones as a result now.

We would never get Rowett anyway, and on the face very surprised at this as they won last night and are currently 7th?!?

New owners apparently, who think they can do better with a foreign manager. It will be interesting to see if Zola can improve on Rowett's record. Personally, I think Rowett did pretty well, saved them from relegation and as you say moved them up to 7th in the table. I thought at first he might do well for us too but on reflection I think he's out of our league, so to speak.

I guess the edited bit was another insult which i will ignore this time, you should try and accept people have diffent opinions to yourself and enter into reasoned debate.

Pot...kettle

There are plenty of examples of good coaches...and great players...not making good managers so it was still a punt!

And there are plenty of examples of great players making good coaches. Any appointment of a manager is a risk, if the appointee has a track record of success it minimises the risk to some extent.

Hmm, and Shrewsbury are doing even worse, also with 3 ex-Vale players.

That tells me Vale did the right thing!

Vale did the right thing with the overhaul in the summer. If you believe that things aren't going to get any better with the players/manager you have then you make the changes. It's just questionable as to whether good decisions were made when hiring and signing the new employees. I suspect in the next few weeks we'll find out if Smurf thinks he did a good job or not

Funny how its going to take another 4 months for Vale to find out yet you have been banging on about Bruno being the wrong appointment for what seems like an eternity now. I think he could still be right for Vale but it's too early to tell either way. You seem to have made up your mind based on his short managerial history so regardless of results (No credit whatsoever given for any wins this year) you don't seem like you will be changing that tune any time soon either however repetitive and boring it is to listen to!

I said on day 1 that Bruno was a high risk appointment (as have many other vale fans) and subsequent and recent events have not changed my opinion. The topic was always going to resurface when vale played Northampton but you and some like minded individuals appear to take it so personally.

For the record I cheer every point Vale gain as 51 points is an absolute must, Bruno or no Bruno, and the only way to gain points is to win or draw.

BAck on topic: Can't believe Rowett has been sacked. Rash managerial sackings and fans calling on managers heads after less than half a season is a truly ugly stain on the beautiful game we all love.

In case of Rowett with what he's achieved with Brum I agree. Wish it hadn't have happened viz Vale's position with Alex Jones 'cause everything is uncertain now.

Football gets more and more embarrassing. Class manager who's been doing excellent with a weak squad and they sack him the day after a win. Couldn't make it up. I don't think it's great news for us, Rowett clearly didn't think jones was good enough but the new manager may well do and may want to try him out.

I live between Birmingham and Coventry and have a few pals who are real blue-noses. They're mostly spitting feathers and really upset at how Birmingham has done the dirty on Rowett and his back-room team. Negotiations with Zola must have going on for weeks! Is this the way to treat a manager who as a club legend had steadied things at the club and got them to the fringe of the play-offs? I suspect this will back-fire on Birmingham City and so too, do one or two of my friends who are closer to this situation than me. Just down the road in Coventry, things are even worse and they are struggling with incompetent owners and serious lack of finance--only this week they have had to resort to using a local 6th form college playing fields to train as they have been kicked out of their previous training ground! By comparison it makes our situation seem pretty stable!

Rowett will no doubt end up at Huddersfield in the next few weeks.

Doubt it. The speculation that Wagner will leave Huddersfield for Wolfsburg is exactly that, speculation and I think he'll remain at the PhunnyPharm or whatever it's called these days.

Rowett's obviously a good up and coming manager but even if Bruno gets the bullet I doubt he'll end up at Vale Park, he'll surely have the interest of Championship clubs. I wouldn't even be surprised if one of the under performers there are already thinking of offloading their current incumbent in favour of attracting Rowett.
