So why did Perry leave?

Perry Deakin is getting brownie points for his work at Vale. What I can't understand is why he is here. His CV shows he has had spells in commercial roles at Wolves, Birmingham, Derby (all bigger clubs than Vale) and also at a First Class Cricket County, Northants CCC. So why, if he is such a successful guy in his field, has he left jobs at high profile clubs like those and ended up walking into a League Two club in turmoil? It doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone explain, please?

I'll try to answer you, Jean. He has joined a club with such a lousy record on the commercial side so he could hardly fail to improve the situation. A CEO is his highest position to date and a 2, 3 or 4 fold increase in revenue for the club will sit very well on his CV. How we will actually measure his success remains to be seen as we have little to compare it with.

So Caroline as your source is a journalist who will have done the all the background research before making such claims, you should be free to publish them and name the source. Your comments about PD are founded on untruths and I get the impression this is a personal agenda that you have against the bloke.

What's the problem - did the email queen not get a reply from PD when you were tapping away like an excited teenager on msn.

Like you published your source that was adament Robbie Williams hadn't given his proxy to the supporters club you mean? Your comments against RW were founded on untruths and I get the impressions yours is a personal agenda against those in the Supporters Club.

What's the problem - did the wind up merchant not like the fact that his source had made him look a fool when you were tapping away like an excited teenager on Facebook?

Or even worse sell the stadium naming rights for £25,000 per year a price that teams three leagues below us could acheive.

That's 25k more than the previous lot managed. If he'd been in charge for the last ten years, we'd be 1/4million better off.

What do other clubs at our level get for naming their ground?

Just got my tickets for the Cherry Red Records Fans' Stadium Kingsmeadow.

How much for The EBB Stadium at the Recreation Ground?

or Coral Windows Stadium (Bradford, if you didn't know)?

Pirelli Stadium

Abbey Business Stadium

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium

Globe Arena - is that after a company or just random?

Greenhous Meadow

So, actually, few are getting money in. Well done Perry for trying.

Accrington got £1 million for a 5 year deal I understand.

Who is their sponsor? I thought it was just called The Crown Ground now as their previouos sponsor, Fraser Eagle, went bump?

They don't have one. They did indeed sign a 1 million pound deal in 2006 but Fraser Eagle filed for administration in March 2009 and withdrew.

They were also the shirt sponsers weren't they? Assume that was also included in the £1m deal.
