O'Connor & Dicko

Not surprised but you have to wonder what offers they were made by Vale, I can't see Notts County throwing money about they've only just had a transfer embargo lifted because of finances.

It does look like County are "going for it" this season though. They've already got the likes of Roy Caroll, Izale McLeod, Alan Smith and John Stead. With Dicko and O'Connor they'd be a decent bet to be there or thereabouts next season.

So, I guess like the Vale they are looking to speculate to accumulate and clearly think if they splash the cash they can go up...

And from a neutrals' perspective the two players move from relegation contenders Vale (at least the bookies think so) to promotion contenders County.

Although tbf Rob they had 4 of those players last season and still had a ropey season(lower half/towards the bottom of League Two) for a club of County's standing I thought was a poor effort. Of course some of that could be to do with the manager they had at the start etc etc.

O'Connor should be an asset to any team at that level as he was half decent for us in League One. Dicko is commited and gets stuck in but isn't the kind of player who is going to change a game for them imo.

With Dicko they are getting a committed defender who will give 100% and is a leader, with experience at a higher level. Good signing for them IMO.

They are 3 excellent, experienced signings for a Div 2 club.

All 3 lads will do well there and are decent players, capable of holding their own at a higher level.

County fans should be buzzing. They're obviously intent on going up.

So have we lost a player to a side higher than Vale yet. Says a lot. Providing the ones coming in are better I'll be happy.

It does say a lot that clubs lower than us are showing more ambition to sign experienced players to better themselves as a club. By the same token are we going to be persuading any players from a higher level to come to us?
