Bury make huge losses

Bury are breaching the financial fair play rules I venture. They should be investigated and if found to be in breach they should be subject to a points deduction and other sanctions applicable. In the end this is unfair on Port Vale and other clubs whose actions to keep wage costs in line with income are in accordance with the rules.

I called it at the start of this season when you wrote some stuff about it rob & those articles came out, but the only way they're going is administration or out of business, or something along those lines.

I fully expect to see articles in the next few seasons talking about how the players & staff aren't being paid, & all the other ones about financial difficulties & winding up orders etc.

Transfer/signing embargo and release players to bring the wage bill down?

We don't average 5k though do we? Some pay more and some pay less, then there are other associated match day and non match day costs to be taken out of that.

To be honest I'd very much like to see what exactly commercial do.

I dont know what the average ST, PotD ticket costs due to the variations in prices... its all guess work... didnt I read the average attendance was just short of 5,000?

Does commercial include catering and the club shop?

Interestingly I was also talking to Pete Twigg last week. Hes a massive Vale fan. Remember years ago when Vale ran bostocks coaches in the 80's, well I got to know Twiggy through the procters coaches that he helped run off Hamil road. He was saying because the ground is so big, it is costing over £200k to keep it going.

Guess that makes it more understandable why these smaller clubs can poss afford to spend more on budgets than we can.

This is the problem with football generally at the moment. Premiership clubs are not all living within their means--with "sugar daddy" owners subsidising the clubs and balance sheets. Even in the lower leagues some clubs are trying to emulate the 'buy success' mentality. I didn't blame tom Pope for choosing to go to Bury for a larger wagepacket than he had been offered at PV and I also said at the time that Bury would surely not be able to afford the big signings/high wage players that they signed before the start of last season. On their average gates it was always going to be the economics of the madhouse.

I know it's going to be frustrating for most of us that some of the players offered reduced terms by Norman will inevitably walk and sign for other clubs, but in purely business terms, we have to accepth that Norman's stance is the sensible and only rational one. The problem is that football is just not a 'normal rational business' and the fans' understandable hunger for success will in most cases, override sensible and careful financial management. Unless a club does find an owner with total passion, endless ambition and very deep pockets to match, it's a circle that can't be squared!

Nobody in their right mind wants us to splash the cash like Bury. The are an accident waiting to happen.

My problem with Norman is that the budget cuts, year on year, do not reflect lost money through attendances, which have held up reasonably well again. We simply are not hemorrhaging supporters year on year. Nowhere near to justify reported 800k budget cuts.

Something doesnt add up with Norman. Mainly his figures.

The budget cuts taken have been unreasonable and no way to run a successful football club.

Hang on, was norman putting 80k a month in, thats 960k.....his "cuts" are him not funding players anymore (which i reckon he will do anyway).
