I have no idea of Brown's managerial credentials (but then again apart from a lot of coaching badges, we had no idea what Page would bring) but if Page goes I would give a Brown appointment some consideration.

It's continuity, it's cheap (which we may need to consider), it's quick (useful with contracts to agree - and the players would surely prevaricate if it was a long-drawn out process - or worst go elsewhere) and the players clearly get on well with the coaches so there's continuity there. I think he'd motivate them too.

I say Brown because I presume Bodin will go with Page. I guess the key is whether Brown is good enough, wants the job etc. But I always kind of liked a quote I saw once about appointing from outside the club which was that you are simply bringing in someone who failed elsewhere.

Why not try a new face rather than another club's failure?

Surely will be Brown, knows the club, players, structure, and I would think respected by them. The players in the pipeline would suit the current style, why start from scratch when the core of the team is already there.

Not that he'd ever be a realistic contender but Warnock is odds-on favourite for the Blackburn job. Didn't Smurthwaite have some sort of link with the ex-Mansfield manager Paul Cox? He's one of the least attractive names on the above list, but probably the cheapest so he's bound to be an option!

You can discount Powell and Ince straight away.

Well perhaps we will have a manager who susses out the opposition before we play them and devises a plan with the players at his disposal to negate the oppositions strengths and exploit their weaknesses without playing for a draw away from home which gives the opposition the advantage from the start.I think that was a fatal move and one which made me stay away, another was the pretty football without actually gaining a great deal of ground and how about a manager who devises a plan to suit the players instead of trying to make the players fit a plan, Don Revie tried that many years ago and was ridiculed for it.Perhaps I'm asking to much but I've never thought of Page as the way forward because I want better than upper mid table for Port Vale.Have I missed anything out because I'm sure someone will tell me if I have.

Considering you and Nick etc will be over the moon tonight and getting season tickets tomorrow, who is your choice to replace Page....i really am intrigued
